This mid-level position will contribute to the strategy that guides Addgene’s digital content, design content for our products, and coordinate the content needs and goals across the company. This position will directly supervise 1-3 team members.

LOCATION & POLICY ON REMOTE WORK

This position can be flexible - onsite (Watertown, MA), hybrid, or remote. We are able to open this position up to residents in MA, VT, ME, RI, NC, FL and OH. For those onsite, our beautiful office space has ample parking with a free shuttle from Harvard Square and is on multiple bus lines, with the cost of public transit covered by Addgene.

Job Description

Addgene is seeking a Content Strategist to join our content team. This is a mid-level opportunity to contribute to the strategy that guides our digital content, design content for our products, and coordinate the content needs and goals across the company. This management level role reports to Addgene’s Director of Content and will supervise a team of 1-3 people. 

To Succeed in this Role, You Will

• Drive the development and adoption of a content style guide.
• Work with the Director of Content to conduct and manage regular content audits.
• Edit and review Addgene content to make sure that it supports our content strategy.
• Develop content strategy for individual projects. 
• Design, write, edit, and improve content for our products. 
• Manage and mentor a team of 1-3 specialists that manage our blog, social media, and video production. 
• Contribute to and oversee the work on our social media, blog, video, and educational content.
• Manage the strategy of these platforms to make sure they are supporting Addgene’s mission.
• Coordinate between internal teams to ensure that content needs across the company  are identified and that roadmaps are aligned in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maintain and improve content governance plans.
• Engage with users or other Addgene teams to understand their problems/pain points/goals and drive to solutions as they relate to Addgene content. 
• Contribute to Addgene’s product development process by collaborating as a stakeholder for content design of our products.

Skills and Competencies

• Proven experience in one or more of the following: content strategy, content design, science writing. Ideally 3-4 years of professional experience.
• Experience with mentoring and managing the performance of a team.
• Experience working with collaborative cross-disciplinary teams.  
• A strong grasp of technical and/or biological concepts, and the ability to simplify and articulate them for others. 
• Excellent interpersonal and relational skills. 
• Communicates ideas clearly and enjoys solving problems. 
• Exceptional writing skills. 
• Proven ability to drive project work streams and deliverables with little oversight.
• Working knowledge of tools and applications that support content deliverables, such as JIRA and Miro.
• Familiarity with designing for inclusivity and accessibility.
