Alkami is hiring a Sr Technical Writer to join our Product Management & User Experience Team in Plano. The Sr Technical Writer will be responsible for creating high-quality documentation and work with a group of high energy and engaged Product Managers and Software Developers to support product life-cycle success. Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities with the capability of moving toward searchable content that can be used for purposes such as; knowledge base articles, how to’s, FAQs, and training.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Development teams to create engaging and useful publicly facing product documentation including; release notes, product guides, and configuration guides.
  • Develop and manage the process for product documentation from inception to publication.
  • Research, gather, and organize technical information from Subject Matter Experts and simplify the information for both internal and end-users.
  • Organize and maintain an online document repository.
  • Adhere to prescribed documentation standards, style guides, policies and procedures.
  • Determine the needs of the users of the product technical documentation, and select appropriate medium for the message and audience including multimedia.
  • Create, manage and publish product documentation for each product iteration based on a standardize release cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation while paying attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal skills; excellent written skills in English.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence (Atlassian Products).
  • Basic familiarity with the SDLC and/or Scrum software development methodologies.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with others to achieve desired results; must be approachable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • BA / BS degree in Technical Communication, English, Software Development, or a related field.

Desired Skills

  • In-depth familiarity with SDLC and/or exposure to Agile Scrum methodologies.
  • Comfortable using GIT for version control.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress for public-facing content.
  • Previous experience with training and learning systems a plus.
