Are you passionate about Tech for Good? The Alexa Trust team is looking for a writer who can translate complex technical concepts into natural and intuitive language. Your words will educate and motivate older customers and persons with disabilities, and help all Alexa customers understand how we protect their data and privacy. You will champion inclusive and empathetic language.

In this role, you will collaborate closely on high-visibility projects with designers, product managers, researchers and developers to craft language for application interfaces, web content and more.

Key job responsibilities

  • Work with UX to define, test and iterate UI copy across a variety of touchpoints and areas of the customer experience.
  • Work with UX research team to Interpret generative research insights, customer needs and mental models for our target personas.
  • Drive new processes and mechanisms to establish a unified approach, and drive alignment on voice and tone.
  • Contribute to the professional development of colleagues across the UX team, improving their UX writing skills, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Act as a conduit between UX, Legal and Marketing from a UX copy perspective to drive workflow efficiencies and consistency.

About the team

The News & Trust Design and Research team raises the CX bar on Alexa for Privacy, Accessibility, Aging and Independence and News features and services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience as a UX Writer or similar role in an agency or in-house setting.
  • A web-based portfolio of relevant work samples with a UX focus; including problems you helped solve for, your contributions, and impact to the customer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-motivated team player, comfortable working across multiple simultaneous assignments and operating autonomously in an ambiguous, start-up environment.
  • Experience writing about technical systems for non-technical users.
  • High empathy level and understanding of inclusive and empowering language for under-represented customers, e.g., people with disabilities.
  • Working knowledge of the design process and general UX design principles.
  • Experience with developing and evangelizing copy guidelines and tone of voice
  • The ability to influence others to set and achieve goals and deadlines.
  • Grace and humor under fire.
  • Ownership of a beat-up copy of Strunk & White.
