Senior Technical Writer

The Technical Content Experience (TCX) group, also known as AWS Documentation, is looking for a programmer writer to support Amazon AI and ML services. These services include Amazon SageMaker, which is our flagship machine learning service, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Q, and this role offers the opportunity to work on cutting edge Generative AI and Machine Learning technologies.

Ideally, you have both a technical background that enables easy interaction with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation. Key job responsibilities

• Author and deliver high-quality documentation and samples
• Develop, negotiate, and drive content strategy in alignment with product strategy
• Engage with customers, gather data and feedback, and report insights around content performance metrics
• Develop scripts, sample code, and technical procedures that are easy to use.
• Help hire and develop writers on the team
• Identify and drive opportunities to improve efficiency

About The Team

The AWS Documentation team writes and provides support for a diverse technical audience, such as developers, DevOps professionals, IT professionals, and technical program managers. On behalf of our customers, we innovate, we research, we learn, and we experiment. We collaborate with product managers to understand our customers' needs. We partner with software developers to learn about the inner workings of AWS services so that we can influence product design and the customer experience with the product. We know that what we do makes a difference to our customers. We work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
• A minimum of 3 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience that include data scientists or business consumers of AI technologies
• Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
• Ability to read and write basic example code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, or Go

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Background in machine learning or artificial intelligence
• Experience working with XML, markdown, or HTML
• Familiarity with using and following a style guide
• Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
• Experience working directly with teams of software engineers
