Job description

Do you want to shape the future of hybrid and cloud-based data protection and business continuance solutions? Do you want to lead, grow, and be part of a team that is building a service used by tens of thousands of customers and growing quickly? If you said yes to any or all of those, come join the AWS Backup service team and help us revolutionize the world of hybrid and cloud-based data protection!

The AWS Backup team is looking for an experienced technical writer as we focus on providing customers with quality documentation about new features and services. AWS Backup is a newly launched service that provides a fully managed backup solution that makes it easy to centralize and automate backing up application data across AWS services. Embark on a journey with us to grow a backup management service that can scale without limits. We retain our customer focus by reviewing and replying to customer feedback, and continuously improving our docs.

Ideally, you have a technical background that enables easy interaction with Product Management and Engineering teams and you have demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation. Any experience you have with web services, Linux, XML, and Git is also a bonus. While we don’t expect you to be an expert in these areas, we hope you are excited to learn about them. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to help take the service to new heights. This is your opportunity to shape the future of AWS Backup and transform the way the world thinks about data protection at massive scale.

This position within the AWS Backup team represents a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast-growing business, collaborate with product managers to understand our customers’ needs and partner with software developers to learn the inner workings of AWS services so that you can influence design and the customer experience. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work within a fast-moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly contribute to services that have a broad business impact.

Mentorship and Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. We have a formal mentor program so you can find a mentor that works best for you, based on factors such as location, job family, and job level. In addition to formal mentors, we work and train together so that we are always learning from one another, and we celebrate and support the career progression of our team members.

Work/Life Balance

Our team is focused on balancing life with work, and does this via work autonomy and by prioritizing solutions and processes that enable us to scale faster than the business. Most days, our entire team is co-located in our Seattle, Boston and Vancouver offices, but we’re flexible when people need to work from home.
