The AppleCare Digital Content team is looking for a creative designer and manager to lead the imaging and design team. In addition to managing the team, you'll develop pixel-perfect digital files for how-to, learning and help content on support.apple.com (http://support.apple.com/). You’ll partner with writers to improve content performance, always keeping customers front-of-mind. You’ll prioritize usability, inclusivity, and outstanding global support experience.

Key Qualifications

  • Management experience with the ability to build rapport, collaborate, and trade feedback with designers, and to problem-solve with writers and engineers
  • Solid knowledge of Adobe Photoshop (including Smart Objects and image retouching), Illustrator, and other industry-standard creative tools
  • Highly organized and diligent, with a drive for perfection down to the last pixel
  • Thrive in a challenging, fast-paced web publishing environment
  • Savvy in the formal elements of design, including typography, layout, balance, and proportion
  • Ability to build vector illustrations
  • Familiarity with Apple products, and ability to troubleshoot products
  • Solid understanding of user experience, adaptable design, accessibility, and localization
  • Familiarity with tool development and partnering with tool teams on improvements
  • Ability to improve workflows and processes and navigate difficult conversations

Description

  • Support and develop direct reports
  • Manage the design queue and distribute work across the team
  • Brainstorm with team members and propose creative solutions that fit within our style guidelines
  • Work as a member of a team to design amazing visuals (screenshots, icons, hero images, photography, and infographics) that support knowledge base content
  • Partner with writers to optimize the appearance, format, and usability of support articles
  • Partner with other designers to set visual guidelines that follow Apple brand, typography, and graphic standards
  • Adapt existing web designs and images for new channels, services, and devices
  • Build original designs based on existing templates, adhering to design principles in similar templates
  • Help improve the processes around how we build and review images, name files, and collaborate
  • Deliver high-quality, localization-friendly design and images on short timelines
  • Prepare images that look great across various platforms and that are easy to localize

Education & Experience

  • 3+ years of management plus design experience, preferably with an agency, design firm, or corporate design team
  • BA or BFA in web or graphic design, or equivalent experience

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to build original designs based on wireframes/sketches as needed
  • Solid understanding of the technical side of web development, including working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, iOS, and other technologies
  • Experience crafting gorgeous presentations in Keynote
  • Experience working with Adobe CQ5/Adobe Experience Manager
  • Multi-media experience: working with video, animation, and motion graphics
