Benevity's Product Content team is growing, and we have fantastic opportunities for a Content Designer. We have a clear product vision for inspiring daily goodness in our clients, their employees and customers, and the charitable causes they support. We need your help on that journey.

Benevity’s clients are global brands that are part of your everyday life. They use the software and content we design and create to run their corporate goodness programs. Their goal is to attract, retain and engage today’s diverse global workforce by connecting employees to millions of causes through our ecosystem, so that they can volunteer, give, and learn about the issues they care about.

As a Content Designer, you will be a key member of our Product Content team, applying your skills and expertise in three disciplines:

  • Programming, planning, and analysis
  • Writing, editing, and storytelling
  • Content production and delivery

Our team of Content Designers is responsible for all of the content that our global clients and their employees and customers experience in our products. We write timely content to increase awareness, provide context, and raise funds around the issues and topics people care about: from disaster relief and humanitarian crises to ongoing issues like sustainability, health and wellness, and diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging. We are also responsible for product documentation, technical writing, support material, help-center resources, and UI microcopy.

As a Content Designer at Benevity, you will:

  • Report directly to the Product Content Manager
  • Understand the full context and business needs around specific subject-matter pillars, content types or product verticals
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the overall editorial calendar
  • Derive insights from content performance metrics to make decisions and recommendations about our editorial calendar, content subject matter, and quality
  • Create campaign briefs for major projects
  • Work on content development projects from initial briefing through to publication
  • Edit content to ensure it meets briefs and satisfies business requirements

What you bring:

You have experience as a writer and editor capable of understanding a range of audiences and delivering content in the necessary tone and voice to meet their needs and expectations. You have a deep, comprehensive understanding of language as a problem-solving tool, and are able to imagine and then develop and deliver the content necessary to meet the moment. You are a skilled collaborator who can engage and guide freelancers and contractors, and are comfortable working cross-functionally in a busy technology company with peers from engineering, sales, marketing, legal, and client success. You can communicate the outcomes you have achieved and the decisions you made. Most importantly, you are passionate about doing all this in an inclusive and accessible manner.

  • You can articulate a project brief and plan and ensure that it meets the deadline
  • Detail-oriented and passionate about content production, quality control, and delivery workflows
  • Proficiency in document and asset management and version control
  • Extensive writing and editing background, in journalism, advertising, or technical writing
  • You have strong communication, collaboration and creative problem-solving skills
  • You can influence mentor others
  • You are comfortable with context-shifting in a fast-paced environment: you can multitask on several different projects and manage several different types of relationships
  • A skilled facilitator comfortable leading meetings, setting agendas and organizing workshops
  • You have 4+ years of experience in content design, content strategy, copy- or technical-writing
  • University undergrad or higher in English, Communications, Marketing, or something equally interesting or relevant
  • Experience with digital workflow / documentation software (we use the Atlassian suite)
  • Familiarity with Photoshop a plus
  • Experience with Google Analytics a major plus

Our Interview Process

Our hiring process is designed to be a good experience for both you and us. We don’t believe that take-home exercises or tests accurately demonstrate your abilities as a researcher to execute your craft day to day. Instead, we focus on understanding the Why, What, and How you achieved the outcomes you have as a researcher. After being contacted by the Benevity people team for an introductory call, you can expect:

  • Initial interview with a small group focused on how your skills match our job posting (60-90 min)
  • The In-depth case-study presentation where you share a deep dive into your past work (90 minutes)
  • Group Interview where you get to meet some of the product management and product marketing team (45 minutes)
  • Interview with product leadership (45 minutes)
