Block is looking for a Content Strategist Lead on our team to help define, manage, and build a holistic, shared content strategy and operations with the goal of improving the discoverability and usability of the organization’s employee-facing content while also empowering policy, business, program owners to more effectively and efficiently manage that content at scale.

In this role, you will own the overarching strategies to develop content solutions at scale for Block. This individual will help lead content management system (CMS) strategy, support self-service content experiences, and design and run strategic cross-functional projects that move the needle on usability, operational support and self-service metrics. 

You’ll gather data, establish a content framework and strategy, propose initiatives and experiments to improve business and employee-facing content outcomes, and scale learnings Block-wide. You will be critical in solving business issues such as customer satisfaction, self-service, and influence service delivery and design. 

You will: 

  • Be an expert and trusted advisor on all things content.
  • Be user-centric, constantly seeking to improve the user experience from a front-end (content consumer) and back-end (content creator) perspective.
  • Educate program/business/policy owners and communications teams on the benefits of a consistent, holistic approach to content.
  • Collaborate with POps Leadership, program owners and appropriate stakeholders to define quality standards and publication practices to support the creation of content for Block, employees, and the vendor population.
  • Own the entire content lifecycle including scoping, initiation, prioritization, implementation, and measurement.
  • Scope, propose, and drive content initiatives, projects, and experiments designed to improve business and employee-facing content outcomes
  • Monitor and report content metrics that measure performance to identify opportunities for scalable solutions.
  • Present findings, successes, opportunities, and insights to the content team as well as organizational leadership
  • Balance customer/user experience and business impact with speed and quality
  • Manage content governance and approvals process for high-visibility programs/initiatives
  • Informally lead a team with the potential for management growth
  • Ensure the success of the content team; identify areas of opportunity including process improvements, training opportunities, success sharing, etc.

Qualifications

At a minimum, you have: 

  • 7+ years of experience in content development, program/project management for a technology company and/or website, content strategy
  • Proven ability to develop strategies that create user-friendly governance models for content generation
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated success collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to problem-solve creatively while balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and demonstrate influence at all levels with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively present concepts and justify decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in leading a team (contingent workforce, individual contributors, temps, etc.)
  • Proficiency at building high-functioning content teams and developing talent; communicating vision, priorities, expectations and career pathing
  • Knowledgeable on building taxonomies for machine learning classification systems, leveraging content management with conversational artificial intelligence (AI), working knowledge of APIs, text automation
  • Ability to quickly understand the needs of our internal clients and partners; proven experience in influencing outcomes
  • Experience driving content changes that improve customer and business outcomes
  • Experience with User experience design 
  • Experience leading data-driven projects and communicating results and insights to cross-functional partners
  • Experience contributing at both strategic and operational levels with cross-functional teams
  • Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance or support, while also being an open, collaborative team player
  • Masterful experience with content strategy and storytelling
