Job description
Our client’s mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. As a Senior Content Designer on our client’s XD (Experience Design) team, you’ll help us achieve that mission by bringing clarity, consistency, usability, and delight to our ecosystem of product content.
You’re perfect for this role if you’re a blend of storyteller, systems thinker, and UX writer. You identify user needs and find the right content to meet those needs using logic, hard data, and empathy for your user to inform your choices. You love working in multidisciplinary design teams that include product designers, researchers, and fellow content designers, and live to bring together your insights into a cohesive strategy.
And finally, you’re an enthusiastic craftsperson keen to build product experiences that are clear, helpful, and human. After all, we’re not only propelling digital experiences but physical ones too.
Responsibilities
- Reporting into our centralized Content Design practice, you'll own the content strategy — the plan for content, as well as the approach to content design — for a new generation of travel products and services that help millions of people travel with confidence and peace of mind.
- Partner with your fellow designers to define the edges, depths, and proposed solutions for customer and business problems.
- Use human-centered design methods to co-create and test solutions that address real customer challenges.
- Orchestrate a clear and compelling voice and tone — even if you don’t own all the content — across complex product areas.
- Apply concepts around UI frameworks, modularity, localization, and reuse to craft content solutions that scale.
- Team with product managers and researchers to initiate and drive content tests that measurably improve the customer experience.
- Partner across the enterprise to improve accessibility, inclusion, readability, and translatability of product content.
- Govern and make decisions about content in our style guide and platform design system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent related professional experience in UX Writing, Content Audits and Analysis, Content Mapping and Modeling, Content Planning and Sourcing, Conversational Design, Information Architecture, and Storytelling. (This is not a content marketing role.)
- 5-7 years related professional experience as a content designer or content strategist.
- Ability to audit, analyze, structure, design, and present content solutions independently using established frameworks.
- Understanding of human-centered design (HCD) practices, and a point of view about content's role in the design process.
- A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are.
- Ability to collaborate with different practice areas — particularly those with approaches and perspectives different from your own — to generate effective solutions to user problems.
- Expertise in — and comfort with — facilitation, workshop design, and storytelling.
- A passion for travel and for our mission.
- A portfolio of shipped work that demonstrates your skills and methods. We're especially interested in seeing examples of work you've done for Android and iOS apps, and if you have experience working in a platform or two-sided marketplace, it's a definite plus!
