Digital Receiver Technology, Inc. (DRT), a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company located is looking for an Experienced Technical Writer in Germantown, MD. DRT is a premier provider of SIGINT and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems. This position requires the ability to produce documentation such as datasheets, manuals and help files. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create original user documentation and data sheets for telecommunications equipment in hard and soft copy
  • Use Help-generation programs such as RoboHelp to create online Help files for inclusion in DRT software products
  • Assist with printing and binding of DRT manuals and DRT equipment data sheets as needed
  • Use Adobe Suite of graphics programs (Illustrator, Photoshop) and MS Visio to create graphic illustrations
  • Use a digital camera to take photos of DRT equipment
  • Use RoboHelp, MS Office applications, and Adobe Acrobat to create documents
  • Operate printers when needed

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22. C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing and editing
  • 5+ years of experience with PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with HTML or XML
  • Experience with software repository systems, such as SVN  
  • Telecommunications or military experience helpful
  • Oral communications capability (to elicit information from engineers)
  • Experience with single-source documentation programs, such as RoboHelp
  • Knowledge of image and document compression issues

Typical Education/ Experience:

  • Education/experience is typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

  • Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
