What You’ll Get to Do

CACI has an immediate need for a Technical Writer to revise the Navy Integrated Project Team for Aircraft Carrier Maintenance (IPT4ACM) manual and provide ad hoc technical writer support. Technical writing/documentation activities include maintaining and publishing new versions of the IPT4ACM manual to support the Aircraft Carrier Maintenance community.

This is a Part-Time On-Call position.

More About the Role

  • Produce, proofread, edit, and format technical documents.
  • Edit and format information for consumption through various media channels.
  • Gather information, interview subject matter experts and stakeholders, and conduct other research in order to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.
  • Interface directly with customer project leads and key stakeholders to understand requirements and brief them on revision progress. Lead and facilitate revision cycle meetings to gather suggestions for IPT4ACM revisions.
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain all technical and non-technical files associated with technical manuals, including but not limited to project plans, design documents, manuals, presentations, graphics, and memos.
  • Ensure all project documentation adheres to applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience prior to distribution and storage.
  • Assist with the development and enforcement of documentation design, review, and storage guidelines.
  • Identify and investigate the need for documents of various types.
  • Duties may also include writing a variety of project plans, reports, manuals, and meeting minutes for a wide range of uses.  
  • May manage multiple project processes.
  • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.
  • Influence others regarding system design, solutions, and procedures.
  • Support/interface with the customer via the telephone, video conferencing, email, chat, and applicable online presence.
  • The work site will primarily be at the employee’s home site. Occasionally the employee may need to go to the customer site or a CACI office.
  • Physical Demands: Normal demands associated with a standard home office environment, including the ability to work on a computer for long periods.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Interim Secret security clearance and subsequent final DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Typically will have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
  • Adobe InDesign experience.
  • Adobe Photoshop experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a passion for effective visual representation of information.
  • Perform with a high level of urgency with an operational focus.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and interfacing with stakeholders.
  • Seasoned technical individual contributor.
  • Willingness and ability to experiment and invent new approaches to provide the highest caliber service to our customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with customers at all levels of the organization in a professional, effective manner.
  • Strong customer service orientation. Respectfully engage customers in a manner that achieves successful outcomes. 
  • Ability to organize work efficiently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to perform successfully independently and as a team member in a demanding work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance. 
  • Previous military service or previous work experience at a Naval Shipyard.
