We’re looking for a Senior UX Writer to join the Product Design team. Once we return to our offices, the role will require occasional travel to the London office as the UK Design team and partners are distributed across both sites.

OUR PRODUCT DESIGN PHILOSOPHY AT CAPITAL ONE:

Using a human-centred approach, we create intuitive, enjoyable experiences that take the stress out of finance and make credit simple.

Product Design is a multi-disciplinary vertical comprising UX, UI and Content. Designers partner with Product and Engineering within a Tribes model. Each Tribe owns its own roadmap, commercials and a customer-facing agenda. Our UX Designers advise and work alongside tribe leadership and hold the reigns of the product experience for our mobile app, web servicing and agent experience. They work embedded with engineering teams using Agile delivery, co-creating and optimising our product experience continuously. UI Design leads act as guardians of our brand experience, ensuring the continuity and consistency of our design language. Our Content leads enable us to craft language that builds trust, removes ambiguity and allows us to maintain our values of simplicity even when dealing with complex financials.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Turn big ideas and complex processes into engaging, human language that helps us make credit simple for our customers
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers and other stakeholders, helping to define the problem, prototype solutions and gain buy-in
  • Team up with researchers to plan and execute studies that shape your content and support your word choices
  • Champion our short, true and playful tone of voice, helping us connect with customers and stand out in the market
  • Share and review work in a way that gathers a broad range of opinions and maintains a high standard
  • Work with our in-house legal team legal to make sure your content meets regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to the development of UX writing best practices and standards

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • A love of words and a passion for problem solving
  • A portfolio of top-class work, which shows the thinking behind your thinking
  • A collaborative mindset and an ability to co-create with different teams
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A keen interest in content and design trends

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:

We offer exciting and diverse career progression, investing heavily in developing great people through our Capital One University training programmes (and appropriate external providers).

Immediate access to our core benefits including pension scheme, bonus, generous holiday entitlement and private medical insurance – with flexible benefits available including season-ticket loans and a cycle to work scheme.

Open-plan workspaces and facilities designed to inspire you. Our Nottingham head-office has a fully-serviced gym, subsidised restaurant, mindfulness and music rooms. Our London office hosts a rooftop running track and was recently recognised as one of Glassdoor’s ‘Unbelievable Offices’.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HOW WE RECRUIT:

We pride ourselves on hiring the best people, not the same people. Building diverse and inclusive teams is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do. We want to work with top talent: whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you come from. We know it’s about what you do, not just what you say. That’s why we make our recruitment process fair and accessible. And we offer benefits that attract people at all ages and stages.

We also partner with organisations including the Women in Finance and Race At Work Charters, Stonewall and upReach to find people from every walk of life and help them thrive with us. We have a whole host of internal networks and support groups you could be involved in, to name a few:

  • REACH – Race Equality and Culture Heritage group focuses on representation, retention and engagement
  • OutFront – to provide LGBTQ+ support for all associates
  • Mind Your Mind – signposting support and promoting positive mental wellbeing for all
  • Women in Tech – promoting an inclusive environment in tech
