Job Summary
UX Writing Specialists contribute to unified voice that people recognize and trust. They write for and adapt their approach to a diversity of audiences, platforms and channels utilizing our Design Language, voice and tone guidelines and brand standards. Under the guidance of more senior peers, they deliver messaging for content ranging from new product development to feature optimizations or marketing campaigns. Their work may touch any stage of the end-to-end journey of their words - from the creation of copy to its translation and performance, including all of the relevant processes in between. They work as part of the product development process, together with various roles including other writers, engineers, designers, product managers, marketers, data scientists and researchers. This is necessary in order to achieve and exceed our high and continuously developing UX standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Creates English content and manage translations for proposed solutions. Able to adapt the words they write to different audiences and platforms, with direction from more senior peers and stakeholders.
- They recognize the words they write and experiences they create are the voice of the company. With guidance, they are able to utilize established brand and UX standards and best practices.
- Considers where their writing appears in the user journey and creates content that contributes to a cohesive user experience, delivering the right message at the right time with oversight from more senior peers.
- Ability to adapt writing to potential translation issues for global and diverse market needs. Writes clear translation briefs, demonstrating some knowledge of localization and translations best practices.
- Ability to understand and resolve language and translation bugs assigned to them with guidance.
- Learner's mindset and technical aptitude, capacity to quickly learn new processes, systems and tooling.
- Uses available research, data and key metrics to inform and measure the impact of their work.
- Ability to think critically and build skills and knowledge, asking for feedback regularly to help their development and improve overall quality.
- Ability to execute on and write for tasks that achieve both short and mid-term business objectives.
- Works closely with their team members and more senior peers to ensure content is delivered on time, as expected.
- Clear written and verbal communication and active listening. Ability to construct relevant communication materials (presentation, slides, etc.) in a concise and structured way and deliver to appropriate audiences, with guidance from more senior peers.
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage expectations with direct team members, peers and key stakeholders impacted by their work, with oversight from more senior peers.
- Some familiarity with the design thinking process, motivation to actively participate in design activities for their teams.
- Knows when to involve their manager or more senior craft leaders in challenging situations (stakeholder, conflict, technical, business, etc.).
Requirements Of Special Knowledge/skills
- Some UX writing and content design skills
- Experience writing content for online channels, preferably E-commerce
- Able to quickly learn new tooling and interpret data
