Job description

Change Healthcare is looking for a Senior UX Content Strategist/Designer that is curious and driven, providing vision and judgment in leading high-impact editorial projects. Providing creative direction, communication messaging and content strategy, you’ll be accountable for driving a cohesive customer user experience throughout the product/service interaction across several project initiatives. Project involvement will be from start to finish, from gathering user, market and behavior research to progressively iterating and improving the product experience with subsequent releases.

As part of the Product Design team, you will be responsible for shaping the vision, interoperability, and experiences of Change Healthcare’s next-generation platform during a time of transformational growth. We're looking for an experienced strategist in UX content who uses words and written communications as their design tool.

The Product Design team is comprised of diverse product designers focused on solving the challenges that come from a company driven to improve healthcare for all. We appreciate different perspectives and encourage friendly collaboration and problem-solving while advocating for the user’s information needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide creative direction and guidance on messaging and content strategy across mediums, working closely and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Product Design, UX Research, Platform, Engineering, Product Management, and other strategic leaders.
  • Build and evolve our content design system by understanding user, designer, and developer needs relative to the UI design systems and solving those problems with reusable components and patterns.
  • Rapidly generate ideas and prototypes in a positive and constructive atmosphere that appreciates both long-term directional design and short-term benchmarks.
  • Gather and leverage strategic intelligence to provide insight regarding the market, trends and behaviors to best support the evolving needs of the team and Change Healthcare.
  • Leverage the UX Research team to facilitate content design and recommendations on how to best meet the user’s needs.
  • Initiate and facilitate in-person design workshops with key stakeholders to untangle problems and spawn new ideas.
  • Iterate on design solutions with an open mind, using customer interviews, usability testing, and other user-centered research methods, in collaboration with UX Research, to guide your work.
  • Review front-end development output to ensure faithful representation of your comprehensive solutions.
  • Establish guidelines and give presentations on content design methods and UI writing basics
  • Present concepts to executive leadership through thoughtful execution paired with strong communication and presentation skills with an emphasis on tailoring the message to the audience so that an appropriate level of understanding is conveyed.

Qualifications:

  • 12 years of experience designing products in user experience, content strategy, content design, design libraries, interactive prototypes, usability, and multivariate testing, or similar experience.
  • An expert-level understanding of the importance and usage of design processes and systems, as well as how they’re constructed and iterated on over time.
  • Interest in Content-Early (or Content-First) methods.
  • Experience with accessible products through a broad knowledge of accessibility principles and how they’re applied.
  • Attention to detail and quality that borders on obsessive. You’ll be supported in pushing engineering for perfection with every release!
  • Organized, self-directed, efficient, and able to manage extremely complex projects in a timely manner.
  • Pro-active communication to solve small problems before they become big problems.
  • Awareness of the power of data and how to leverage automation and AI principles to improve user experience.
  • Ambition and the drive to see strategic initiatives from concept to production. Knowledge of product release cycles and the role that iterative design plays.
  • Proven ability to execute at a high level in a remote environment, with consistent internet connectivity and daily schedule.
  • Passion for user-centered design with deep background and bias towards simplicity, elegance, and minimalism.

Other helpful skills/experience:

  • Experience in the healthcare, payments or similarly entrenched industries preferred.
  • Creative and proficient at using Zeroheight and Figma (or Sketch) as primary tools, including knowledge of how to use Library Components, and other efficiency mechanisms.
  • 4-5 years of experience in mobile application design.
  • Visual design proficiency is a plus.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English is a plus.

This is a remote role (US-only.) Preferred locations are Emeryville, CA and Nashville, TN.
