Department Overview

The Marketing and Communications team tells the story of Children’s Minnesota — so that our community understands what we can do for them. With a diverse team of experts in PR, digital, social, brand management and creative, we develop communications that raise awareness of our highly specialized care, grow affinity for our kid-focused approach to medicine, and keep our audiences (families, physician partners, community groups) engaged in the journey toward better health for all children.

The role of the Digital Content Specialist drives initiatives designed to enhance the user experience across multiple digital platforms, including web, mobile, apps, email, and search. As part of the digital marketing team at Children's Minnesota, this person takes a lead role in developing and managing an overarching content strategy and governance model that supports the brand and drives value to the business, working in close collaboration with other marketing colleagues and key stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates for this position must have a minimum of five years of experience in digital content planning and development.
  • A successful candidate will also have exceptional communication skills and a strong desire to keep up with the evolving digital world.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic are required.

License/Certification/Registration required? No

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in marketing, communications/journalism, digital marketing, information technology or similar field.

Experience:

  • Experience with the creation and curation of digital content across a wide spectrum of digital channels.
  • Experience ensuring effective use of various content types (text, images, video, audio, infographics) based on audience needs and usability and maintaining consistent messaging and voice.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong working knowledge of SEO principles and experience with writing search engine optimized web content, SEO best practices, data analytics and reporting; including Google Analytics.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Possess a thorough understanding of the digital world as it relates to:

  • Principles of digital customer experience design
  • Mobile and web-based applications
  • Paid search and SEO (site search, taxonomy, metadata, structured content, etc.)
  • Social media and content marketing (blog)
  • Email marketing, automation and other technologies

Strong process development and project management skills; familiarity with and openness to multiple project management methodologies.

  • Strong writing and editing skills, within digital environments.
  • Flawless attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
  • Working knowledge of CMS (WordPress), databases and basic publishing software.
