We’re now working in a hybrid way, with colleagues dividing their time between home/remote working and the office. You can find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy

We’re looking for a content designer to join our Digital Products and Design team at Co-op and help shape our wide range of digital products and services. You’ll be working with other designers and engineers in a multi-disciplinary environment as well as contributing to the development of our design and content community. Within our product teams, we prioritise working in the open and creating experiences that work for our customers and for Co-op.

As a content designer, you’ll get involved in the content design process at every stage of the product lifecycle, from discovery to live and beyond, positively influencing the whole service experience. You’ll produce engaging and accessible content based on user behaviour, data, and research. If you can bring us the content design experience we need, we can offer you the chance to build a career with a business that’s using digital to make a real difference to our members, colleagues, and communities.

What you’ll do

  • create great user-focused content to be used across different channels
  • identify and evidence user needs, and show how you’ll meet them
  • turn often complex business language into accessible and understandable content
  • collaborate with people across Co-op, championing the principles of good content design
  • monitor how content is performing, using user behaviour, data, and research to improve it where necessary
  • take part in research sessions, including online and in-person
  • contribute to our community of practice to share design knowledge across the wider digital team

This role would suit people who have

  • previous experience working as a digital content designer or UX writer, with the ability to create content that’s accessible and usable for web and mobile products
  • excellent people skills – able to build positive relationships with partners in the business
  • experience making content decisions based on user behaviour, data, and research that you’ve taken part in
  • examples of previous content work (you’ll be asked to demonstrate and talk through these at the interview stage)
  • experience using content management systems (CMS) and organising content production

Why Co-op?

Here you’ll do work that matters. We’re a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit. You’ll have the opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You’ll also get a package that includes…

  • competitive salary
  • coaching, training, and support to help you develop
  • pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • annual incentive scheme
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
  • Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
  • YuLife – an app that rewards you for exercising with discounts and vouchers for many of the UK’s biggest brands
  • discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We’re actively building diverse teams and we welcome applications from everyone. We want to build inclusive work environments, where our colleagues have equal opportunities to reach their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities they serve.

If you have a disability, we can make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process according to your needs. We’re also part of the Disability Confident scheme, meaning we’ll always offer an interview to disabled candidates who apply through the scheme if they meet the minimum criteria for a job.

We’ll ask whether you’d like to be considered under the Disability Confident scheme when you apply. If we invite you to take part in the recruitment process for any of our jobs, we’ll ask if you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to participate.
