The Content Specialist is responsible for:

  • Copywriting and Content Creation – Providing exceptional writing skills, proofreading, editing, and experience to craft content for various digital channels including web, social, email, and mobile apps. This role also includes scripting and producing audio and visual podcasts.
  • Content Operations and Governance – Supporting the organization's web properties, collaborating with Marketing, Communications, Operations, and other staff to deliver digital content that drives member and customer loyalty and engagement.

Qualifications for this role

  • 3+ years of copywriting experience required.
  • Podcasting experience preferred.
  • A record of outstanding copywriting and/or content creation as proven by a portfolio.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills. 
  • Ability to handle criticisms and edits with great aplomb.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Fast learner with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects while prioritizing as needed.
  • Strong command of AP style and familiarity with AMA.
  • Deep understanding of the rules, conventions, and nuances of grammar.
  • Comfortable working with members and staff at all levels.
  • Strong command of content management systems.
  • Experience using and managing work with a project management solution.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), including WordPress and Craft CMS a plus.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) Systems is a plus.
  • Association and/or Health Care experience is a plus.
  • Education: BS/BA in Journalism, English, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field preferred.

Travel/Remote Work

  • Hybrid work opportunity with 90%+ virtual remote. Occasional, required in-office presence as needed for key meetings, events, and relationship building (4-6 times per year).
  • May be required to put in additional time and effort, including weekends, to meet project deadlines, major releases, and large organizational events (ex. Annual Meeting).
  • Subject to 24-hour call during production and operational difficulties.
  • Less than 10% travel.
