Job description

Datalign is seeking a talented and experienced Senior UX Writer with 6–8 years of expertise to join our dynamic and collaborative User Experience (UX) team. This role offers the opportunity to impact every stage of the product development lifecycle—from discovery and refinement to catching typos moments before launch.

The financial advisory world can often feel confusing, impersonal, and overwhelming. At Datalign, we aim to transform that experience, helping customers achieve better outcomes in their search for the right financial advisor. The way we communicate with customers is a crucial part of this mission, and we're looking for writers who can infuse personality into the innovative experiences we are building. If you have a passion for crafting content with a focus on video game conversational experiences, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft Customer-Centric Content: Create exceptional customer experiences using a human-centered approach to content, design, and product development.
  • "Own the Words": Develop product content that is clear, helpful, human, scalable, and inclusive, with a sharp awareness of language nuances and interpretations.
  • Design Video Game-Like Conversations: Apply expertise in creating immersive, engaging, and human-centered conversational flows inspired by video game dialogue design to enhance interactivity and personality in user experiences.
  • Think Strategically: Shape product strategy and vision, achieving both long-term goals and short-term wins beyond just writing.
  • Communicate Effectively: Craft messaging that delivers the right information at the right time, ensuring clarity and precision.
  • Establish Frameworks: Develop content frameworks, voice and tone guidelines, product narratives, and other deliverables that elevate UX writing practices.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with designers, researchers, product managers, legal, brand, PR, customer care, and operations teams to align solutions that balance customer needs with business goals.
  • Navigate Ambiguity: Thrive in uncertain environments by driving clarity and solutions through thoughtful inquiry and decisive action.
  • Champion Content-First Approaches: Proactively identify opportunities where language can significantly impact the customer experience.
  • Shape Conversational AI: Craft human-centered, AI-powered conversational experiences with personality, drawing on video game dialogue design principles to make interactions engaging and dynamic.

A Day in the Life

Collaborate closely with Design, Product, and Marketing to identify and drive strategic content initiatives. Develop scalable content systems and resources while contributing hands-on UX writing for key projects. Drive innovative conversational flows that merge the best of human-centered design and engaging video game-style interaction.

This is a full-time position based out of our Cambridge, MA office and requires 4 days per week in office presence.

  • Conversational Design: Proven experience designing engaging conversational flows for digital products, particularly AI-powered experiences, with an understanding of video game dialogue techniques.
  • Content Systems: Ability to create and drive team-wide adoption of scalable content systems and resources.
  • Communication: Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Portfolio: A robust portfolio of UX-focused work, showcasing problem-solving skills, individual contributions, and measurable customer impact—including conversational design samples.
  • Clarity and Simplicity: Demonstrated ability to distill complex topics into concise, customer-friendly content.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Experience working directly with designers, product managers, researchers, PR, and other stakeholders, synthesizing feedback effectively.
