Universal Credit content designers work on a hugely important online service, designing content to meet the needs of millions of service users. They help people find out what they need to know, and do what they need to do, as simply and quickly as possible. A Content Designer is responsible for creating, updating and reviewing content for end-to-end user journeys. They make sure the most appropriate content is shown to users in the right place and in the right format. A Content Designer is comfortable using evidence, data and research to make the right content decisions.
They make sure users can meet their goals and that a service or other product meets policy intent. A Content Designer can work within a multidisciplinary team across digital and non-digital channels. They contribute to and use style guides and design patterns to produce consistent content.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater. Only in very few circumstances (where there have been exceptional skills demonstrated which are in limited supply for example) may existing Civil Servants be able to negotiate their starting salary if the role has been advertised externally, prior to accepting the post.
This role will be based in Manchester or London corporate hub locations.

Stage 1: Application & Sift
As part of the application process you will be asked to complete a CV and complete a technical content design exercise.
The sift panel will use the information relating to your employment history (your CV) and response to the exercise to assess your experience, skills and knowledge against the essential criteria.
