ECS is seeking a Web Content Manager to work in our Washington, DC office. 

ECS seeks a passionate, driven Web Content Manager to join our talented web content team supporting our national security customer in the planning, execution, analysis, and refinement of their digital content strategy. The right candidate will have significant experience developing and implementing research/data-driven content strategies for large organizations that deliver useful information to diverse audiences in engaging, innovative ways. 

As the web content team lead, you will facilitate customer engagements and internal team planning, ensuring all key stakeholders have visibility into the content strategy, priorities, work performed, and key outcomes. As needed, you will also drive the creation of content deliverables to include written, graphic, and multimedia, ensuring ECS standards of quality and adherence to federal standards (e.g., USWDS, 508, plain language, etc.) are consistently met.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead engagement, planning, and collaboration with our customer and the ECS web content team to create dynamic, compelling web experiences.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and iterative refinement of a comprehensive web content strategy for our customer.
  • Lead user research efforts—to include user interviews, user surveys, and user testing—that will inform the content strategy, content development.
  • Lead efforts to define and analyze performance metrics that align to content strategy goals and organizational priorities.
  • Guide the creation of user personas, journey maps, and user flows informed by user research and website data analysis.
  • Guide the development and publishing of engaging written, graphic, and multimedia web content that resonates with target audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to improve our customer’s SEO.
  • Facilitate the ideation, prototyping, design, and implementation of new, innovative approaches to content delivery and user engagement.
  • Evaluate and identify content gaps and present internal and client-facing solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to USWDS, Section 508, and plain language standards
  • Mentor junior team members on content strategy best practices
  • Create scalable web content resources for use by our team and our customer as the web content mission space grows and evolves

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, User Experience Design, Web Design, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience as a Web Content Strategist
  • 3+ years leading as a team lead/manager
  • Experience creating and leading the implementation of web content strategies
  • Experience creating and editing written, graphic, and multimedia web content
  • Experience analyzing and refining web content to meet section 508 accessibility, plain language, and organizational style guide standards
  • Experience employing SEO best practices
  • Experience defining performance metrics, successes, risks, and areas for improvement from website analytics 
  • Experience conducting user research and user testing leveraging proven UX methodologies
  • Experience distilling web content and site development priorities from user research/testing 
  • Experience creating sitemaps, migration plans, content models and taxonomy vocabularies
  • Experience managing content inventories
  • Experience implementing new content and updating existing content using Drupal CMS
  • Expert-level writing skills with the ability to provide samples of work

Desired Skills:

  • Experience creating digital content for federal agencies
  • Experience leading/collaborating with teams in an Agile environment
