Feeding Texas is the state association of food banks. The Feeding Texas network of food banks is the largest hunger-relief organization in Texas. Our mission is to lead a unified effort for a hunger-free Texas. Together with our member food banks, we strive to ensure adequate, nutritious food for all Texans, improve the health and financial stability of our communities, and engage all stakeholders in advocating for hunger solutions. As a member of the Feeding Texas Communications team, the Content Manager’s primary responsibility will be to create, coordinate, and manage content for the organization. The Content Manager will be tasked with building our brand identity and presence through the creation and dissemination of multimedia content, including written materials, graphics, and other creative assets. The Content Manager will work with the Communications Director to build a content calendar and develop innovative content strategies that align with the organization’s goals.
Essential Functions
Content Creation
- Works with the Communications Director and the Policy and Advocacy team to create content to educate Texans, engage advocates, and advance the organization’s policy priorities.
- Works with the Communications Director and Development Manager to develop written materials, graphics, and other content for individual, cause marketing, and seasonal giving campaigns.
- Assists with the creation of communications toolkits and other resources for the Feeding Texas network of food banks and partner organizations.
- Drafts written content for blogs, op-eds, emails, and website, ad and social media copy.
- Designs graphics for social media, blogs, emails, ad campaigns, and more.
- Edits and proofreads content before publication.
- Creates, maintains and reviews foundational materials to support the organization’s brand and mission.
- Works with the CEO and Communications Director to develop internal and external content to aid the socialization of the organization’s strategic plan.
- Works with the Communications Director and Programs Team to develop content that features community voices and the stories of Texans with lived experience.
Strategy and Planning
- Works with the Communications Director to develop content calendars for upcoming campaigns and initiatives.
- Ensures consistent adherence to brand guidelines and messaging across platforms.
- Develops and implements a comprehensive content strategy that supports and furthers organization-wide goals and engages community voices.
- Explores emerging platforms and collaborates with the Communications team to assess new and innovative content strategies.
- Monitors, tracks, and documents content results. Uses qualitative data and audience response to evaluate content performance and make suggestions for improvements.
- Works with the Digital Communications Manager to distribute content to online channels and social media platforms.
All staff are expected to develop an anti-racist knowledge base and awareness of racial equity and racial justice strategies, participate in regular anti-racist trainings, and contribute to the development and integration of a racial justice framework at Feeding Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full-time experience in marketing, political / nonprofit communications, journalism, public relations, advocacy or related field
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Knowledge of content trends across social media platforms
- Demonstrated track record developing written content and graphics for different platforms
- Working knowledge of digital design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva
- Basic knowledge, or demonstrated ability to learn relevant office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Teams
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Experience with the Texas legislature or Texas politics is a plus
- Experience with data visualization is a plus
- Experience with video production and/or video editing is a plus (e.g. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
- English-Spanish bilingual proficiency is a plus

Compensation
The salary for this position is $64,200. Feeding Texas offers a competitive benefits package. We strive to provide non-cash benefits that encourage a work-life balance and promote the physical, mental, and financial health of our employees and their families.
Location
Feeding Texas operates in a virtual work environment. We provide the necessary technology, equipment, and other support to ensure a comfortable and conducive home working environment for employees. All staff must be residents of the State of Texas within 30 days of their start date.
