The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.
The future of the FSA is constantly evolving, and no small part of our efforts as an Agency are in anticipating these changes and preparing ourselves to adapt to them. From revolutionary new food services to the future development of food law, and the use of new technologies in the food system, there are many changes that will impact the FSA. The role of digital technologies in helping the FSA fulfil its remit is perhaps the biggest of all of these, offering terrific opportunities for colleagues and external stakeholders alike.
The Service and Content Designer sits at the forefront of the Agency’s work in the digital future of the FSA. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the position exists to connect the Agency’s critical business functions with the Openness, Data and Digital (ODD) Directorate, ensuring that digital development always works to improve the user experience and developmental needs of the business.
Description
Usability and functionality must sit at the centre of our work in creating digital prototypes. Without usability we cannot pretend to support accessibility - a cornerstone in our ambitions towards creating an open and trustworthy service. In ensuring this, and that our services run effectively, we provide true value for the consumer.
The post holder will support this endeavour, taking ownership over the development and coordination of the ODD Hub, supporting colleagues in the design and development of digital services, and working with colleagues from across the FSA to develop digital prototypes that meet the needs of both the business and users alike.
The successful candidate will need to be a strong communicator who will be excited to collaborate with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders. If you are passionate about the opportunity to change and develop ideas and projects to ensure they better fulfil their purpose, apply today for this fantastic role
