The role and the team

It’s an exciting time to join giffgaff’s Experience Design team as a Content Designer. You'll be part of an ambitious, growing team, where you’ll be fully immersed in the product development process. You’ll play an important part in our exciting plans for 2023 and beyond.

Your role will be to deliver the right content at the right time within our member experiences, whilst driving business growth. You’ll work with our product teams, collaborating with product designers and product owners, with input from stakeholders and giffgaff members to bring the Product and Design department vision to life.

You’ll also get the chance to use your writing expertise in other areas of the business, such as marketing copy, social, promotions and customer comms.

Key responsibilities

In a nutshell, your role as a content designer will be to create, evaluate, update and review content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey.

You'll be an excellent writer, who’s comfortable using evidence, data and research to make content decisions. You’ll work closely with our Product Designers at all stages of the UCD process.

  • Creating clear, accurate, and accessible content
  • Reviewing content to make sure it’s accurate, relevant, accessible, and written in line with the giffgaff brand tone of voice and our style guide
  • Advocating for giffgaff members by challenging anything that doesn’t support their needs
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues from other expert disciplines
  • Working with the content design team to make sure giffgaff’s content is consistent

Your skills, experience and attitudes

Skills

  • A really, really good writer
  • Confident applying brand tone of voice all the way from microcopy to long form
  • A good understanding of content design and UX writing principles
  • A good understanding of Figma
  • A strong focus on consistency across all products and platforms
  • An understanding of how user insights help shape content
  • Comfortable writing copy that simplifies complex concepts
  • A love of language and fascination with the power of words
  • A stickler for excellent English and grammar

Experience

  • 4 or more years’ writing experience (we’re open to all levels)
  • Evidence of working with the product delivery process
  • Experience working with product designers and product developers
  • Comfortable using data to make content design decisions
  • Knowledge of the telco business is a bonus, but not essential

Attitudes

  • A collaborative approach to your work and colleagues
  • Curious about the user and their motives
  • Ready to work in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Excellent communication skills

Consistent and clear messaging: Ensure that the messaging throughout the product is on brand, consistent and clear

Improved user engagement: Engage users with copy that is unmistakably giffgaff and encourages users to take actions within our products.

Experience: Effortless and concise content that helps users navigate our products easily, and makes it an enjoyable experience.

Increased trust and credibility: Establish trust and credibility with users, to give them the confidence they need in our products and services
