Job description

Girl Rising is a U.S based non-profit currently working in 12 countries around the world. We are a team of international development professionals, journalists, documentary film-makers, and educators who through our original storytelling, advocacy, media campaigns, and educational tools, work to ignite change so that girls are free to go to school, stay in school, and pursue a future of their own choosing. Position Description & Qualifications 

Girl Rising is looking for an exceptional candidate to fill this position at a time of organizational growth. This position is a temporary six-month position, but there is the opportunity for the role to become a permanent part of our team. This is a full-time, virtual temporary position (6 months). We offer flexible work hours but we do need at least five work hours to fall between 8am and 6pm ET.  

The primary responsibilities of the Digital Content Manager are:

  • ​​Support Communications Manager and the Head of Development and Communications in development of digital/social strategy and content calendar
  • Support the creative development and production of digital content and assets
  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software; edit images and create text overlays, Perform retouching and manipulation of images
  • Oversee development and deployment of digital communications materials including toolkits, visual assets and creative copy to drive storytelling across Girl Rising’s channels
  • Manage creation and production of all Girl Rising video content needs, working closely with external designers, video editors and partners to coordinate all aspects of the project
  • Manage scheduling and execution of content across digital channels, including Social Media platforms, mass emails and more, partnering closely with Girl Rising Program leads
  • Liaise with the Development and Programs Teams to bring communications to life in the most optimal and relevant visual format across channels, in alignment with Girl Rising brand and style guidelines
  • Support Girl Rising website development and ongoing updates including Google Analytics, SEO and more
  • Manage Girl Rising’s photo archiving and facilitate delivery of key images to teammates and GR partners
  • Manage projects from end-to-end, ensuring deadlines are met and relevant approvals and processes are in place, including management of creative asset library, stakeholder requests and routing and approvals for all digital content
  • Keep abreast of new social media platforms, tools, trends and best practices that can inform the digital/social strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong English language; other languages are valued
  • Two to five years of professional experience in social media, digital content management, or related production
  • Exceptional storytelling—written and visual—and production skills across mediums and platforms
  • Extensive knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Mailchimp and SquareSpace 
  • Ability to plan and execute all aspects of social media campaigns and initiatives
  • Editorial skills with a keen eye for consistency, accuracy, and detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability and desire to communicate clearly with non-technical staff about digital initiatives
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinker with a passion for gender equity and social justice
  • Familiarity with video and photo production processes, including image/photo editing (Adobe suite)
