Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing
  • Experience working with software engineers on a daily basis

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in a Unix environment
  • Experience programming in C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, or Go
  • Experience writing content for an audience of software developers
  • Experience researching and writing effective documentation for engineers

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to uncover requirements and plan and execute on document work.
  • Facilitate, edit, and curate documentation produced by product managers and engineers.
  • Design information architecture for complex documentation sets.
  • Work separately within the context of the Writing team while collaborating with technical writers and other members of the Product team.
  • Advocate for users and influence product design and implementation.
