Job description

HoneyBook is the leading business and financial management platform for independent small businesses. By combining tools like billing, contracts and client communication, HoneyBook helps business owners get organized so they can provide top-tier service at every step. HoneyBook is trusted by independent businesses across the U.S. and Canada who have booked more than $7B in business on our platform. Every day at HoneyBook we are on a mission to empower the independent economy to rise together, doing what they love.

Our award-winning culture is built on core values that drive everything we do, including putting people first. We know experience comes in many different forms, some visible on your resume, others not. No one candidate will be a 100% perfect match to our description, so if you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually-charged environment and have a similar experience to what we are looking for, we encourage you to apply.

As our content marketing associate, your mission is to help independent businesses be successful by providing them with the education and resources they need to run their businesses better. You will own our organic lead generation strategy and be a key stakeholder in the HoneyBook blog. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create compelling content for our target audience, build relationships with our community and partners, drive meaningful growth at the top of the funnel, and support our objective of positioning HoneyBook as the leading platform in our category. By creating and distributing high-quality content and resources for independent businesses, your work will support our goals of broadening brand awareness, attracting new members, and driving qualified leads down the funnel to conversion.

Here are a few of the things you will do:

  • Raise brand awareness by creating timely, engaging, and educational content that delivers value to our members and positions HoneyBook as the leading brand for independent businesses.
  • Help optimize our content ecosystem by owning and improving our lead generation and capture function on the blog; working cross-functionally to create a high-quality educational resource that drives organic downloads.
  • Evangelize our category as a key content stakeholder; supporting our go-to-market efforts, promoting our brand values, and establishing legitimacy for our category positioning.
  • Support product adoption by educating independent businesses on the key benefits of using HoneyBook to create and manage their client flow.
  • Drive increased traffic to the blog by supporting our SEO strategy through content optimization, managing partner contributions, and link building.

Here is what is needed:

  • 2-3 years of content writing and copy editing experience. This includes coming up with content ideas, writing, editing, and publishing. Strong grammar and SEO content best practices are required.
  • Familiar with blog managment and publishing; WordPress is preferred.
  • Experience working with external partners including blog contributors and influencers.
  • Experience using Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs or similar is a plus.
  • Experience with basic design software like Canva is a plus.
  • Passionate about independent businesses. You’re inspired by our audience and motivated to help them succeed.
  • Curious. You ask questions and conduct research to better understand our audience so you can create the content that resonates most with them.
  • Editorially rigorous. You write and edit with precision and are a stickler for grammar.
  • Takes initiative. You are comfortable taking the lead and seeing an initiative through to completion.
  • A great storyteller. You can capture our brand voice, inspire an audience, drive a reader to take action, and ignite excitement with words.
  • Desire to be data-driven. You're keen to understand why something did or didn’t work and eager to learn from those findings.
  • Trend-savvy. You are engaged in emerging trends and actively incorporate those learnings to create compelling and timely content.

The good stuff:

  • Mission-driven. You'll be joining more than just another startup—our members are at the heart of everything we do; in fact, we invite them to co-work in our office and collaborate with us on the product itself.
  • Impact. We move quickly and encourage every employee to push the envelope. Our best ideas come from out-of-the-box-thinking and innovation; be ready to fail fast and often!
  • Compensation: We offer a competitive salary + meaningful equity based on merit.
  • Benefits + Perks: From wellness programs to open paid time off and exceptional family leave policies, the health and happiness of our employees are foremost.
  • Provisions: We give you the tools you need to get your job done and we provide a fully stocked kitchen and bar, happy hours, catered meals, and awesome company events.
