Job description

Imagination is an award-winning content marketing agency based in Chicago, IL. We partner with clients to help them achieve key business results, increase engagement and build relationships with their customers.

The Content Director, Financial Services, is the heart and soul of his or her team. This position will provide strategic vision, creative inspiration, quality control, and daily leadership for the omnichannel content marketing program, client relationship and editorial staff of two or more financial services accounts. Financial Services industry knowledge and content creation experience are required for this role.

*This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Content and oversee editorial programs.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing day-to-day content strategy, development, production and workflow, as well as synthesizing input and feedback from internal stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Driving—always—for the highest quality realization of an account’s omni channel program. This typically includes: digital content, video, infographics, content hubs, social media, print and paid distribution.
  • Staying up on content marketing industry best practices and trends across channels and formats.
  • Creating and leading client presentations that offer results-driving big ideas and growth opportunities, as well as regular status check-ins and program analysis.
  • Ensuring consistent delivery of content deliverables and distribution strategies that meet or exceed clients’ and our agency’s expectations and standards for quality, creativity and excellence.
  • Working with project leads (print, design, social media, metrics, etc.) to ensure accuracy of message, alignment across media channels, quality of content and ROI; maintaining workflow and schedule management of projects.
  • Communicating your expertise and passion about content marketing innovation and growth opportunities for each account.
  • Demonstrating stellar communication and client relationship skills.
  • Participating in new business development preparation and presentations.
  • Developing a strong, trusted relationship with the client team and in-house team.
  • Deeply understanding each client’s business and marketing objectives. You’ll work with your strategy and content teams to generate creative ideas for ongoing client projects.

Core requirements of the role include:

  • Having a strong working knowledge and proficiency in the following areas: digital (including social media, podcasts, video), metrics analysis, SEO, audience development and content strategy principles.
  • Possessing deep expertise in financial content marketing and creation, journalism best practices, and content strategy and marketing.
  • Must have experience reporting, writing and editing, and should be an expert in both long-form and short-form content creation across topics and channels. A mastery of editing for AP style and adapting content for client tone and voice are required.
