Job description

Overview

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining website content for client departments, ensuring their web content is up to date, accurate, and using an acceptable tone and voice.
  • Editing and proofreading site content, this role also works closely with UI/UX Designers, Web Producers, and Web Specialists to maintain content standards for new and existing web properties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews and edits document submissions from clients, both operationally and during project processes, for accuracy, tone, and voice.
  • Reviews web analytics to understand site traffic and ensures content is being accessed successfully.
  • Creates, edits, and publishes content for WCM web properties, online publications, and other channels as necessary.
  • Works with Web Communications clients to build an understanding of their business, services, and audience, to help in auditing the content strategy of their websites.
  • Reviews peer and competitor websites; prepares reports on competitive advantages and disadvantages to help client departments optimize their web presence, as needed.
  • Serves as content manager for digital assets on multiple websites as assigned. Completes edits as requested and deploys content through content management platforms.
  • Maintains compliance with web standards and best practices at the institution.
  • Stays relevant to emerging trends in subject areas related to content management, online channel optimization and web platforms.
  • Attends relevant training and conferences as necessary.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Approximately 1 year of experience in writing, editing, and proofreading web content.
  • Experience working in the education, research, or healthcare sectors is highly desired.
  • Experience providing editorial consultation as a client service is highly desired.
  • Experience consuming and producing content across multiple channels.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite as needed for basic content production.
  • Experience managing content (text, images, pdfs, etc) in a content management system (CMS), preferably Drupal. Working knowledge of HTML.
  • Able to accommodate many different work styles and personalities while maintaining productivity.
  • Ability to self-organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, capable of working in a team with developers, project managers, business analysts, and clients.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • The ability to work off-hours and weekends for go-lives, testing and emergencies is required.
  • Light travel between office locations, primarily within NYC is required.
