Job description

As a Product Technical Writer, you are responsible for the production, creation, and maintenance of documentation to support JET Platform, software engineers, and internal business partners. This includes the ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner while ensuring accuracy. This position will primarily work with the necessary subject matter experts (SMEs), technical staff, and product managers where you will produce robust, accurate, and easily understood technical primers, API specifications, internal process documentation, and reference materials. 

Responsibilities: 

You will partner with product managers and SMEs to create and review various technical specifications, guides, and process flow documents. You’ll accomplish this by:

  • Managing documentation projects from start to finish.
  • Creating and maintaining project plans for multiple, concurrent deadlines.
  • Researching, developing and documenting technical design specifications and test scripts.
  • Maintaining and developing efficient workflows and processes to complete projects effectively, accurately, and on time.
  • Actively collaborating with team members to ensure quality and timing publication of all required materials.
  • Escalating items to senior management as appropriate.
  • Planning, developing, organizing, writing and editing content to deliver best-in-class technical product documentation, user guides, specifications, support, etc.
  • Analyzing new and existing content for consistency of style and tone per the designated style guide.
  • Managing updates and revisions to all JET technical literature.
  • Interfacing with stakeholders, SMEs, and developers to ensure appropriate reviews and acceptance.
  • Developing presentations that convey ideas, workflows, etc.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in technical writing, English, journalism, or another writing-intensive program. Coursework in business or finance helpful.
  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position with a minimum 5-8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Superior written and oral communication and grammar skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
  • Ability to explain complex or technical concepts clearly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively partner with various internal functional areas.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills, as well as a collaborative attitude.
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize deliverables.
  • Experience writing user guides, step-by-step instructional content, technical specifications, technical bulletins, and other copy.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop processes and procedures to improve efficiencies.
  • Success will be highly correlated with strong collaborative and influencing abilities across a highly matrixed environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Visio)
  • Proficiency with managing SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, sites and content.
  • Must be a self-motivator who works well independently and in a team environment.
