Job description

About Kearney

As one of the original firms, we’ve never lost sight of the fact that consulting is a people business. A global partnership in more than 40 countries, our people make us who we are. We’re individuals with different passions and strengths who take as much joy in the work we do as from those we work with.

The Content Marketing Strategist oversees all marketing content initiatives, both internal and external, across multiple platforms and formats to optimize global campaigns, drive business development, and increase audience engagement. This individual is an expert in all things related to content and channel optimization, brand consistency, localization, analytics, and meaningful measurement. The position collaborates with all practice leads, regional marketers, and functional marketing teams to define, create, and operationalize content delivery.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Map out a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term, determining which methods work for the brand and why. Continuous evolvement of strategy is a must.
  • Lead, maintain, and curate a functional content calendar to collectively support Kearney industries, services areas, and geographies.
  • Supervise writers, editors, and content strategists; be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style.
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, social media, mobile, video, print, and in-person.
  • Advise on the integration of content activities within traditional marketing campaigns.
  • Work with owners of existing content (articles, capabilities, case studies) to revise and measure content and marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with PR agencies to effectively promote and message key Kearney content initiatives.
  • Follow current topics and trends to develop and execute real-time content themes.
  • Own, advance, and curate content for kearney.com.
  • Manage Kearney’s content subscription process, curation, and distribution.
  • Establish workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, auditing, and retiring content.
  • Ensure consistent global experience and assist with appropriate localization/translation strategies.
  • Work closely with Kearney’s design director on all creative and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent message across channels.

Success Criteria:

  • Positive brand recognition and consistency across Kearney published channels.
  • Website and social media traffic growth.
  • Social media positive sentiment metrics.
  • Increases in key search engine keyword rankings.
  • Business generation through unique, topical, and provocative content.
  • Increase in global collaboration for regional content development.

Key Requirements:

  • An MBA in marketing is a plus.
  • 6–12 years of experience as a respected leader in multichannel content creation.
  • Professional services experience creating compelling messages for different target audiences (clients, prospective clients, recruits, and employees).
  • Adept in all major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Audience development and subscription strategies experience are a plus.
  • A combination “marketing and publishing” mindset, with the most important aspect being to think “client problem first.” In essence, the Content Marketing Strategist is the firm’s storyteller that must be empathetic toward the pain points of clients and prospective clients.

Specific skills required include:

  • Proven editorial skills. Outstanding command of the English (or primary customer) language.
  • Adept storytelling: using words, images, or audio, and an understanding of how to create content (with an outsider perspective) to capture an audience.
  • The ability to lead, persuade, and inspire teams of marketers and content creators.
  • Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics.
  • The ability to think like an educator, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it.
  • Clear articulation of the business goal behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content.
  • Project management skills to orchestrate editorial schedules and deadlines.
