Reporting to the VP, Experiential and Content, the Freelance Contract Content Strategist is responsible to lead and manage assigned content programs, copywrite for social/digital, support conception, and manage production. This role will be focused on the development of brand-side client content during the lead up and execution of key client campaigns. This role is responsible to support client service teams to pitch and gain alignment from clients on content strategies and programs.  

This position is a freelance ad-hoc support, as-needs support.

Duties and Responsibilities

Content Marketing

  •  Lead, develop, ideate and manage content programs
  • Copywrite and copyedit social posts

Client Relationship Management

  • Tune to the client brand and understand the client business and objectives holistically and specifically
  • With the support of the Lumency client service team, anticipate client needs as it relates to content marketing, help to generate new strategies and anticipate client integrated marketing needs
  • Absorb feedback, understand and articulate to internal Lumency teams
  • Possess ability to challenge respectfully with rationale, data and from experience

Culture Cultivation

  •  Support ongoing development of a positive agency culture
  • Act as a Lumency champion in the marketplace


  •  Other duties as assigned



Post-secondary education in editorial, media or branded content marketing


  • 4-6 years of experience in editorial, media or branded content with emphasis on storytelling

Skills and Abilities

  •  Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), ability to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, suppliers, and co-workers
  • Superb creative thinking skills; with an ability to connect all elements within a content program
  • Previous experience managing budgets
  • Strong presentation skills

Travel Requirements:  This position will be based in Toronto but may include travel for shoots, including potential for international travel.
