Job description

M&T Bank is looking for a Search Engine Optimization Rockstar to join the digital marketing team. We are open to a remote employee (within the United States), preferably in the Mid-Atlantic or East Coast. Office locations include Baltimore, MD, Buffalo, NY, and New York, NY if looking to work from an M&T office or a hybrid option between remote and in-office.

The right candidate will help drive strategy and lead marketing activities focused on digital owned and earned media (search engine optimization, content marketing, social media) to effectively and efficiently acquire, grow, and target existing and prospective customers with the right content.

Primary Responsibilities:

You are an owned media marketer at heart who enjoys making data-driven, inclusive, and user-centric based decisions to expand the reach and breadth of our websites (mtb.com & wilmingtontrust.com) by:

  • Creating, customizing, optimizing, ideating and integrating core content, site search and on-site and off-site SEO (e.g. developing useful, targeted, high-quality content and SEO strategies to reach our desired audience base)
  • Employing user experience (UX) and conversion rate optimization methods to turn visitors into active users
  • Continually check search terms, rankings and analytics to monitor the performance of websites and make recommendations for improvement
  • Possessing exceptional knowledge of technical SEO and location strategies and having hands-on-keyboard experience with search engine optimization (ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities, researching and implementing content recommendations, etc.) and inbound marketing concepts (e.g. content marketing and social media) and be well rounded with all digital marketing channels and their interdependencies (e.g. connecting the dots between organic and paid search/owned and paid media)
  • Improving efficiencies of site traffic through KPI measurement and monitoring
  • Evangelizing and advocating the critical role of owned media and organic search in the customer journey and telling SEO success stories through fact and data-based to key stakeholders across the enterprise to keep them apprised of SEO performance
  • Managing agency and platform partners along with budgets
  • Working cross-functionally with digital analytics, paid media, earned media, creative, compliance, product, and digital marketing managers to ensure goals are properly being measured and achieved and projects and deliverables are executed successfully
  • Always be learning and advocating owned digital media and act as a subject matter expert by keeping up to date on emerging technologies and platforms, industry trends, and targeting strategies, as well as a comprehensive understanding of competitor strategies within the owned media space.
  • Understanding robustly how best to leverage SEO tools & platforms, including SEM Rush, Conductor, GMB​, Google Analytics, Channel Mix, Adobe Experience Manager, Qualtrix, Yext, Screaming Frog, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing data from web analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Quantum Metrics, etc.
  • Flawlessly executing QA standards across assigned campaigns

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in managing marketing campaigns in a client or agency environment, OR, in lieu of a degree, a combined 9 years of education and work experience in managing marketing campaigns in a client or agency environment.
  • SEO management tools such as SEM Rush, Conductor, Yext, Google My Business, Google Analytics, Channel Mix, Adobe Experience Manager, Screaming Frog, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in attribution-based analysis and optimization
  • Organizational and project management skills (attention to detail, project management, handling multiple priorities, managing tight timelines)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for various levels of management
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with peers, leaders and business partners

Experience Preferred:

  • Digital agency experience
  • Financial Services marketing/advertising experience a plus
  • Experience with Tableau and/or PowerBI to analyze data and use visualizations to tell stories with data.
