Job description

MoneyGeek is looking for a remote web content editor to create and shape articles aimed at helping our users make smarter financial decisions. You’ll work cross-functionally to proofread, fact-check, copyedit and publish content rooted in personal finance.

You’ll edit SEO content, data-driven studies, informational articles, press releases and more. As an integral part of the content team, you’ll help streamline the production process while ensuring quality, accurate content for our readers. You’ll play a key role in editing high-volume projects consisting of data-driven content, including first-party studies and reports. In addition to editing, you may help inform content outlines, load articles into the content management system (CMS) and perform quality control checks to ensure that content on the site is accurate and adheres to brand guidelines.

Web Content Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Copyedit, fact-check and proofread web content to adhere to AP style and internal brand voice and tone
  • Edit and review high-volume projects
  • Outline, write and create web content as needed
  • Review data-heavy articles for accuracy and concision
  • Ensure content supports SEO goals, brand standards and web style guidelines
  • Provide productive feedback to writers to improve quality, readability and SEO value.
  • Optimize content with tables, bulleted lists, visuals, keywords, etc.
  • Load and publish content in the CMS
  • Communicate with our design and data teams to translate written content into comprehensive, data-driven visuals
  • Create outlines for assignments and conduct research to support these outlines
  • Conduct quality control checks before publishing

Web Content Specialist Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
  • 2-5 years of content editing experience
  • An eye for detail in editing, fact-checking and proofreading
  • Proficient in AP style
  • Understanding of SEO best practices for content creation
  • Comfortable working with, interpreting and fact-checking data
  • Experience working cross-functionally with data, product and design teams
  • Applied experience with web publishing to load, publish and edit content in a CMS (hyperlinks, paragraph formatting, lists, etc.)
  • Experience with basic HTML a plus
  • Knowledge of and experience with the personal finance space is a plus
