America’s first 24/7 national news diginet – broadcasting to 50+ markets including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles – is seeking an experienced Digital Content Director to join our growing team in metro Detroit. As the Digital Content Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, execution and evaluation of our digital strategy. This position includes both short-term (daily) planning as well as long-term. This includes leading all aspects of the digital platform, including the website, social media and a regular updating and maintenance plan. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of leading the digital content strategy, experience with content systems, social media, digital video, and other distribution mechanisms, effective communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.


  • Implement and execute digital content strategies with the goal to increase social media fans
  • Develop and execute digital strategy for News, including website, mobile platforms, and social media
  • Assess and establish baselines for creating exceptional digital content: text, visual, audio
  • Enhance and showcase the best content relevant to our audience while identifying innovative ways to tell and share stories
  • Leverage social media algorithms and SEO strategies to grow audience, increase visibility and ensure maximum impact and engagement
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing to write and produce native advertising and social media posts to raise the profile of the company
  • Daily website and social media management including researching, writing, posting, and distributing
  • Organize content with other teams to work towards shared goals and keep our audience engaged
  • Work with internal staff to design and enhance content so it is of the utmost quality
  • Update and maintain the website
  • Work closely with leadership to develop workflows (sometimes story by story) that serve all platforms
  • Lead newsroom as to how to tailor storytelling for a digital audience and in design-based thinking

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years’ digital content experience
  • Demonstrated history of building solid relationships with external customers and delivering profitable growth
  • An understanding of journalistic ethics and the ability to maintain high journalistic standards under deadline pressure, including standards of objectivity, balance and fairness.
  • An understanding of intellectual property issues involved in publications generally and Web publications in particular
  • The ability to create social media and digital content
  • A strong background in reporting, writing and/or editing
  • Experience editing under daily breaking news conditions
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong and influential verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond positively and effectively to changing and/or shifting priorities and goals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
