Additional allowances : Where applicable subject to a London weighting allowance which is 20% of your salary subject to a minimum payment of £4,608 and a maximum payment of £7,097

We’re looking for Lead Content Designers to join two of our directorates :

Product Development which designs, delivers and maintains digital products and services to help citizens, patients and clinicians including the NHS website (nhs.uk), NHS App, NHS login and Digital Urgent and Emergency Care

Platforms provides the core platforms that underpin the products and data services which we deliver within NHSD and are also made accessible to regional and local service developers including demographic registers, identity services (citizen identity and NHS workforce identity) and messaging platforms for prescriptions and referrals.

You will have an inclusive, user-centred approach and will enjoy adapting and learning at pace. You will be willing to use your practitioner skills for complex projects, while your focus remains on leadership, collaboration and oversight.

As a Lead Content Designer you will be responsible for :

  • Providing senior oversight and leadership for strategic content activities and expert advice on approaches, processes, tools, quality and standards across the programme and directorate
  • Ensuring content standards are maintained with all content across professional and public facing services in your portfolio being inclusive and accessible
  • Inspiring and coaching content practitioners working across a portfolio of programmes, and the wider directorate, facilitating close collaboration and peer support within the content community
  • Collaborating across different programmes, making recommendations around processes and resourcing prioritisation to suit changing agendas while protecting clinical safety and data integrity
  • Advocating for user-centred design as a senior manager

About The Candidate

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring :

  • Advanced knowledge of content management and content design, with an understanding of how it dovetails with related content disciplines (social media and multimedia)
  • Experience of working in a senior content role, responsible for one or more of the specialist content areas (social and digital media, multimedia, content design or content management), supporting several product teams concurrently
  • Proven industry experience of applying content knowledge (content design, content management, multimedia or social and digital media) to real-world applications and organisational challenges
  • Experience of working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and ensuring that the process for making content decisions is based on content knowledge, user research and knowing the user journey
  • Education to masters level or equivalent relevant working experience or qualifications
  • A broad understanding of GDPR, privacy and legal implications associated with the creation and publication of content; ability to provide oversight and steer to junior colleagues and ensure that their content adheres to various GDPR, privacy and safeguarding guidelines
  • Advanced understanding of content performance metrics evaluation, across the content disciplines
  • We have opportunities for Lead Content Designers in Leeds and London and are running duplicate adverts across these locations.
