Job description

Northwest Partners has opportunity for a part time Technical Writer to work with us on premier FinTech client project. This role is 100% remote and is expected to be 10 hours per week for 12 weeks. This position is eligible for conversion to a permanent position during the contract period.

 Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment Visa at this time.

 Who Are We Looking For?

  • You have 5+ years of direct work experience authoring training materials, user guides, or process flow documentation for distribution within a corporate setting.
  • You have experience working with Software Developers in creating templates, content management, libraries, and understanding what questions to ask.
  • You have experience writing API Documentation.
  • You have created training manuals and user guides, authored process documentation, system administration guides, and end user guides.
  • You’re proficient in Excel, Visio, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • You are skilled at creating training videos.
  • You can work independently. 

 What Will You Be Doing?

  • Work closely with a cross cross-functional software development team to determine the best ways to document the system process flows.
  • Author process documentation, system configuration guides, and end-user guides. 
  • Design and advise on the best ways to present clear and easily comprehended information to the end users.
  • Transform requirement specifications to System Administration or End User documentation. This also includes reviewing the developed system and creating overall process flow diagrams, generating innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
  • Create formal process flows based on a variety of information verbal descriptions, notes, clients' feedback, and other supporting documentation. 
  • Collaborate with the project team in the planning and preparation for end-user training.
  • Develop formal training materials including, but not limited to user manuals, workbooks, PowerPoint slides, how-to guides, quick reference guides, etc.
  • Review user needs to ensure manuals adequately address them.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of company newsletters or other informational materials as required.
  • Use previous literature and existing artifacts and documentation to find answers and solutions for your current assignment.
  • Escalate complex issues or concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • Review and edit content developed by other team members.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed.

 The Ideal Candidate Brings:

  • 5+ years of direct work experience authoring training materials, user guides, or process flow documentation for distribution within a corporate setting. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and solid presentation skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A high degree of personal drive – a results-oriented personality with a proven track record of delivering, having the character, energy, and determination to drive successful outcomes
  • Relationship-building skills – adept at building trust-based relationships across teams and with subordinates, peers, teams, and other business functions.
  • Experience collaborating with Software Developers.
  • Working knowledge of the financial industry; financial institutions is a plus, but not required
  • Training experience in a corporate setting is a plus, but not required. 
  • Creativity, organizational skills, and analytical skills.
  • Fluency in technical and common office software: Excel, Visio, Word and P,owerPoint. API Documentation experience is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Communication or a related field.
