Job description

The Content Coordinator & Cape Riverfront Market Co-Manager helps serve as the "voice of the organization" to the outside world, advancing the organization’s interests, promoting its activities, and presenting it in the best possible light. Additionally, this position, in partnership with the Event Coordinator, co-manages the Cape Riverfront Market. As a part of a collaborative team, this person will impact all areas of the organization’s work. General duties include strategic planning, writing, and creating visuals and presentations through the following areas of responsibility:

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Plan, develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the organization and/or district’s brand and mission as applicable through social media, web presence, content writing, and graphic design.

  • Regular social media posts (Facebook and Instagram), tracking digital analytics and monitoring LinkedIn page
  • Manage Old Town Cape Merchants Facebook group
  • Ongoing website maintenance including updating directory, updating sponsors/investors, updating board member listing, maintaining events calendar, coordinating with website provider as needed
  • Quality graphic design for events, social media, advertisements, etc.
  • Creation, maintenance, and distribution of Downtown Guides and kiosks
  • Craft and send two weekly subscription-based emails
  • Writing and sending press releases (in partnership with the Events Coordinator)
  • Work with local media partners to promote upcoming events through radio interviews (schedule for Events Coordinator and Director as needed)

Collaborate on event-specific marketing collateral

  • Provide assistance with the organization and development of marketing pieces for Old Town Cape and/or related downtown Cape events, conferences, presentations, etc.
  • Communicate with printing companies to create invitations, posters, kiosks, etc.

Collaborate on the development of all sponsorship, investment, and volunteer collateral material and ensure fulfillment of all benefits

  • Work with the Event Coordinator and Director to fulfill sponsorship requirements

Create New Business Welcome packets and distribute on an ongoing basis (in partnership with Director)

Help recruit, schedule, and assign marketing and/or community outreach interns to help within the parameters of the position as needed

Serve as staff liaison for Organization committee

  • Serve as the point person for all Organization related projects and initiatives including, but not limited to: planning (in partnership with Event Coordinator) annual board & committee mixer and managing all aspects of ornament fundraiser from selection to distribution
  • Maintain a list of current Organization committee volunteers
  • Ensure committee members track volunteer hours and turn into Events Coordinator

Share in responsibilities related to Cape Riverfront Market (in partnership with the Events Coordinator)

  • Work the Cape Riverfront Market two Saturdays per month 5 AM-1 PM May-October (with equivalent time off during the week)
  • Manage the Cape Riverfront Market social media pages
  • Recruit and schedule volunteers to work the market each Saturday
  • Plan each market including special events
  • Coordinate with market vendors on a weekly basis

Maintain detailed action plans with timelines and records of pertinent information

Assist with Old Town Cape activities and events as needed

Attend Old Town Cape board quarterly board meetings

Assist with general office management (cleaning, organization, etc)

Other duties as assigned

Additional Expectations:

  • Be supportive of the organization’s mission and the Main Street approach.
  • Help foster a supportive team environment
  • Build positive, non-discriminatory relationships with downtown business owners and organizational partners

Expected Qualifications and Key Competencies:

  • Ability to work alternate work schedules including some evenings and weekends; needs to work every other Saturday, May – October, 5 AM-1 PM
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively to both large and small groups, and colleagues of various levels
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
  • Collaborative team builder who demonstrates innovative approaches in problem solving, and who exercises sound judgment
  • Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel Spreadsheet, Office Suite, Canva, and social media platforms

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders
  • Ability to operate office equipment including a computer, a keyboard, a copier/scanner, and an office telephone
