Oracle Communications’ Session Delivery Products team is looking for a motivated and self-starting technical writer. On our team, you will write about the products that enable modern telephony and mobile communications. You’ll author and manage documents in a DITA based CCMS, and get to perfect your content management and structured writing skills.
You should have experience working with software development groups, with preferred industry experience in Telecom, networking, or unified communications. You must be detail-oriented and highly organized, as this position requires tracking project information. Joining this documentation group requires that you can learn the underlying technologies yourself, and in turn write content for highly technical users.
Importantly, you should enjoy solving problems and tracking down information and answers. This position will provide you with a great balance between technical writing, project management, and implementing your own creative business solutions.
The Technical Publications group supports a Voice over IP, monitoring, and management product group by supporting all aspects of the customer-facing documentation. We also create documentation for communications-oriented SaaS products. We work with Engineering and Product Management groups to create a standard range of materials. In this capacity, we support numerous concurrent documentation sets that exhibit a high degree of reuse.
The ideal candidate possesses
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will write, review and produce single books or individual chapters, appendices, etc. of product user documentation and/or courseware. Obtain data and information from the appropriate source e.g. technical staff and exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
