Pacston Technology is working with a major global immigration law firm on the hunt for Technical Writers to work remotely.
A leading global immigration law firm specializing in employment-based visa petitions, is seeking strong, versatile writers for the remote Technical Writer positions.
This position will be responsible for writing and editing legal documents. A legal background is not required, but experience in efficiently and accurately summarizing complex information and/or scientific research is very helpful.
A background in academic or technical writing and ability to incorporate feedback is also desirable.
What our writers do
The primary duties of our writers are to draft and revise letters and documents on behalf of our clients. Writers also have to read and summarize scientific research on various topics (depending on the client you will be working with) and complete drafting letters and documents on a project-by-project basis (3-4 projects weekly).
What is like to work with our clients
Our clients are highly accomplished academic or technical professionals, and helping them achieve their dreams is extremely rewarding. It is always cool to discover new things while doing research related to our clients’ professional fields, and you’ll work with a new client every couple of days.
What to expect at actual work
Due to the collaborative nature of the job, writers in Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand have to work on regular weekdays and provide in total 30 to 40 hours weekly in order to meet project demands.
Our writers usually complete an official document or multiple documents of in total 20 -25 pages A4 at length on a 2-day deadline.
Although some writing can be quite repetitive, the tedious portions are easily systemized once you get the hang of the workflow. We provide a continuous flow of projects for writers to focus on, and there is no dead period of projects - writers will have no need to find extra freelancing jobs to make ends meet.
Training on drafting the specific legal documents we work on will be provided and paid.
What we offer
Remote writers will be paid on a weekly basis with a fixed salary. Depending on the number of projects they complete (i.e. the number of hours they are willing to work on our projects) per week, they are compensated A$750 to A$1,300 on a weekly basis.
What we seek in our writers
Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree (or above) from schools where English is used as the primary or official language.
A degree from a Writing/English/Literature/Linguistics/Journalism/Liberal arts/Social science major is highly preferred.
You must possess a very strong, native or bilingual familiarization of English and possess strong writing fundamentals and grammatical knowledge to meet our projects' demands.
How to apply
Visit our online recruiting platform: https://apply.pacston.com and upload your resume (Pdf. format is preferred.)
For screening purposes, all candidates must complete and pass a preliminary English writing and grammar assessment (3-4 hours) before proceeding to an online interview.
These tests are among the primary factors in determining whether a writer is suitable for the position. Please take your time and check your work thoroughly to avoid typos or careless mistakes.
