Penn State Abington is seeking a Web Content Specialist for the Office of Strategic Communications and Community Engagement. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications and will work with faculty, staff, students, and vendors to complete projects. Successful candidates should have an appreciation for working with diverse audiences and endeavor to raise the visibility and positive presence of Penn State Abington in the local community and Greater Philadelphia region.

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

Campus Website Management

  • Serve as campus webmaster; manage, create, and update site content in accordance with the campus’ approved strategic marketing plan and objectives, as well as industry-standard web accessibility guidelines
  • Work with Assistant Director to ensure language and content on the website meets University brand standards and editorial guidelines
  • Work with content creators (news, social media, video) to execute an integrated, comprehensive web marketing strategy
  • Work closely with Admissions and Enrollment Management to identify and prioritize content that drives campus recruitment efforts

Additional Digital Platform Management

  • Manage virtual tour and campus map CMS
  • Manage employee intranet site in Microsoft SharePoint
  • Manage web ticketing system related to intake, discussion/review, delegation, resolution, and reporting for website changes/updates
  • Monitor and generate reports in Google Analytics for the campus website and all other digital platforms, including digital advertising
  • Serve as the campus liaison for the Penn State GO app
  • Manage campus’ digital monitor system to share high-level campus communications
  • Manage campus’ emergency alert system to send urgent updates to the campus community

Relationship Management

  • Serve as point-of-contact to support various departments, faculty, and staff to update website and employee intranet, and counsel them on web content and strategy, as needed
  • Collaborate with web and marketing professionals at University Park and commonwealth campuses to implement new web technologies and campus strategies
  • Coordinate and lead trainings and workshops on web management, web-based tools, employee intranet and other topics related to marketing and communication
  • Work with the Office of Information Technology to resolve technological issues, as needed
  • Manage the work of part-time staff and student workers

Additional Marketing and Digital Media Management

  • Assist in strategic marketing planning by identifying marketing needs based on relevant research, particularly as it relates to the campus website
  • This position may also assist with the creation, coordination, and production of marketing and/or promotional communications through print design, social media content generation, news writing, photography, video production, and live-streaming, as well as provide special events support

Experience in web management and marketing for higher education is preferred. The successful candidate must have experience in digital demand generation to reach target audiences.

This position requires a working knowledge of web content management systems. Previous experience with Drupal, HTML, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office 365 is preferred. Qualified candidates must possess superior understanding of technology, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong relationship-building skills. Proven project management skills are essential as is the ability to meet deadlines, juggle competing priorities, and interface with a wide variety of constituents on a daily basis.

Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

This is an in-person position at an office located in Abington, PA with a flexible work environment.

This position also requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
