What’s it like working as a Senior UX Writer at Questrade?

Questrade is on a journey to transform from an investment brokerage to a complete financial services provider, delivering on our brand promise of helping our customers to become more financially successful.

We’re looking for an experienced UX Writer in content design at the organization, helping to grow the UX Writing discipline as we build intuitive products for our users. You'll advocate for content design at the organization, and for our users through close collaboration with stakeholders, designers, and developers, ensuring the final product is intuitive and delightful to use.

As a Senior UX Writer, you’ll shape the content of the products we develop, keeping up-to-date with industry best practices. You have excellent writing and literacy skills, application flow knowledge, and story-telling abilities applicable in various analog and digital channels. You’re passionate about using design thinking, content design, and user insights to create a delightful experience for our customers.

By implementing, documenting, and sharing best practices, you’ll empower product teams and work with others to set the standard for UX writing quality. Throughout the product life cycle, you’ll work collaboratively across design, CX, engineering, product management, and senior leadership.

  • You'll work closely with other UX writers to enhance UX content design at the organization, helping teams take on challenges with new and existing platforms, and helping to grow the content design discipline to build intuitive products for our users. You’ll also work with UX Designers, Researchers, Engineers, and Product Owners throughout the design process
  • You’ll mentor and grow junior UX Writers to achieve great results together. You’ll help define the culture and processes for a modern, inclusive product design team.
  • You'll advocate for content design at the organization, and for our users through close collaboration with stakeholders, designers, and developers, to ensure the final product is intuitive and delightful to use.
  • You’ll help develop and mature product development toolkits to facilitate alignment between product, design, and engineering teams and improve collaboration processes.
  • From exploration and drafting content strategies for products to refining mock-ups and prototypes, you'll use research to anticipate user needs and refine and document content design best practices in line with Questrade's design system.
  • You’ll facilitate and communicate clearly, set stakeholder expectations, share knowledge and insights, explain design/copy rationales, build common understanding, and spread excitement around a customer experience vision.

So are YOU our next Senior UX Writer? You are if…

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI or equivalent practical experience
  • You have 5+ years of experience working as a Content Designer (UX Writer)
  • You have an excellent understanding of interaction design, usability principles, and content design
  • You have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • You have deep knowledge of online technology and digital products, including web, mobile, and voice UI
  • You have experience working on product content strategy and information architecture
  • You have experience with user research principles and practices, and using data to support content design choices
  • You have experience working in an Agile work environment
  • You have experience reviewing your work with legal and/ or compliance teams to ensure it meets regulatory standards
  • You have experience in a design-related discipline (Industrial, User-centered, Visual, Design strategy, Cognitive psychology, Human-computer interaction, etc.).

  • You have a high level of self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
