In this hybrid role, the team member will edit and proof submissions from our freelance writers and other in-house content creators; add images and manage layout in WordPress, and may have the opportunity to turn short-form newsy and special interest content and longer features related to travel.

This position may require a flexible schedule: some weekend and evening availability is preferred.

100% remote work is possible if outside the St. Louis area.

Day to Day responsibilities include:

  • Meet daily and weekly editing and publishing goals
  • Combination of fact-checking, editing, writing, and/or proofing ~12,000 words/day
  • Formatting and layout in WordPress
  • Contributing to the organization of the team’s Trello (Kanban) board
  • Keeping up with travel news
  • Responding to shifting goals and deadlines
  • Working closely with TravelAwaits’ Managing Editor, VP, Content Editor, Writers, and other Content Strategists
  • Engaging as a member of the larger Quillt (parent company) team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with copy editing
  • Experience in WordPress
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • Familiarity with selecting and editing images to augment short- and long-form content
  • Familiarity with web-based project management tools (Kanban/Trello/Asana)
  • Interest in pitching travel-related content ideas that will appeal to our 50+ demo
  • Formal editorial training (individual classes or certificate completion)
