The Red Hat Customer Content Services team is looking for someone to join us as a Technical Writer on the OpenShift Virtualization Documentation team. In this role, you will work on far more than documentation; you will join a team that promotes customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. We create and are responsible for the user documentation and premium content that accompany Red Hat offerings, which are made available online through Red Hat’s customer portal. You’ll work closely with developers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to create content that helps our customers successfully use our offerings and solutions. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

What you will do

  • Work closely with content strategists, documentation program managers, engineering project teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases of Red Hat’s offerings
  • Engage and collaborate with customer feedback programs to address content gaps, respond to direct customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience
  • Keep up to date on changes in our offerings, customer use cases, and support issues
  • Master the use of our internal documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue-tracking tools
  • Work with Quality Engineering and Development teams to improve the accuracy of your documentation
  • Work closely with Engineering teams to develop working code examples
  • Devote time to research and understanding our products and solutions 

What you will bring

  • Experience with information architecture or 3+ years of enterprise-level technical writing experience
  • Familiarity with Red Hat’s products and related industry offerings
  • Familiarity with version control systems; experience and comfort with Git is a big plus
  • Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, proactively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments
  • Working knowledge and experience operating in a Linux environment using the command line
  • Experience with agile and comfort with rapid iteration and fast delivery
  • Experience with modular/topic-based documentation
  • Ability to read, write, and compile technical documents, including feature descriptions, customer use cases, and release notes using industry best practices
  • Experience in writing clear and concise procedural documentation for a technical audience
