This individual will oversee freelance writers and designers, as well as a Senior Content Analyst and MarCom Designer, and manage the production of a variety of content resources, from thought leadership pieces and blog posts to social media and donor communications.

The Content Manager will be responsible for supervising an internal staff of writers and should have supervisorial experience.  We’re seeking an individual who can use their expertise and organizational skills to keep content updated and relevant, repurposing existing content, identifying content gaps, and recognizing opportunities to expand our library of content to meet donor and marketing needs, while monitoring KPIs and content influence.

As part of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team, the Content Manager will be responsible for the development of targeted content that generates results. This includes creating content that synthesizes large amounts of information into audience-centric insights. This position reports to the Senior Director of Global Marketing and Communications and will be based in one of Room to Read’s key North American markets (San Francisco, New York or D.C.).

  • Supervise the work of the Senior Content Analyst, who is tasked with working closely with our international offices to ensure the timely sharing of information and gathering of stories, as well as developing content for social media, the blog, and internal and external newsletters.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to assess and support tracking content performance and test new solutions for better conversion performance based on data.
  • Manage relationships with all creative resources, including designers, writers, photographers, documentary and video editing vendors, and other content production contractors, including international video storytelling teams and projects. Ensure that content projects using outside contractors are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work with People Operations and Legal Departments and within Room to Read’s procurement policy to ensure compliance when hiring and onboarding independent contractors and engaging creative agencies and vendors.
  • Draft internal communications as needed, and work with Senior Content Analyst to ensure that MarCom resources are available on Room to Read’s intranet.
