Job description

Skift, the most influential media and events company in the global business of travel, is looking for a part-time contract Content Strategist for SkiftX, Skift’s in-house branded content studio delivering best-in-class multi-platform programs. This is a temporary position for the period of April-August, 2023 to dedicate approximately 15 hours weekly to support the team’s sponsored content work across a wide variety of pre-sale business development, event activations, and digital content marketing campaigns for clients. The role will focus first and foremost on supporting new business and pre-sale concepting for potential sponsors, as well as ideation and logistical support for sponsorship activations at both in-person and virtual events. 

Skift is a fully distributed, remote company with employees based across the globe. This position is remote with a preference for those located anywhere in the United States and requires a high level of coordination and communication skills to be successful. You must be able to work independently, meet goals, set tasks in a timely manner, join meetings via video, and periodically work outside normal company hours for special events or projects. 

Some of What You’ll Do 

  • Pre-sale ideation: Support Skift’s Head of Studio and Skift’s sales team in the development of strategic program ideas (events and digital content) for potential high-value clients.
  • Maintain and evolve product guide: Collaborate with the team’s Head of Studio, the SkiftX team editors and Skift’s Head of Sales to maintain (and evolve) the team’s offering of sponsored content products based on client requests and emerging business opportunities
  • Collaborate with cross-company stakeholders: an ability to coordinate cross-team with various Skift teams including design, events, sales and marketing to gather input for sponsor-related new business proposals and marketing campaigns.
  • Event activation experience: provide start-to-finish support in the ideation, strategy and execution and marketing of event sponsorships at Skift live and virtual events including on-stage talks, partner workshops, and virtual webinars. 

The Experience You Bring 

  • Proven experience in a high-output, fast-moving, environment such as a digital marketing company, ad agency, and/or a branded content studio at a media company
  • A working understanding of sales, business development and/or sales operations 
  • A strategic understanding of marketing and marketing communications programs: ability to turn client business goals and ideas into effective marketing programs
  • Experience working with clients, managing client relationships and feedback 
  • Expertise in developing and delivering high-level presentations and creating and refining proposals and sales materials 
  • Excellent communication and writing skills: Experience ideating, editing, writing, and proofing short-form content and marketing copy in a variety of formats 
  • Understanding of, and interest in, consumer trends in travel, technology, media, enterprise software, conferences and events, digital marketing, 
  • Knowledge of digital video production and/or experience managing video creation process (scripting, storyboarding, editing)
  • Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Google Document Suite

  • You know how to apply your organization skills by managing the details while keeping an eye on the big picture -- and driving logistics from ideation to execution
