What You'll Be Doing in the role of Digital Content Specialist

The Specialist, Event Fundraising Content is a brand-new role as Susan G. Komen continues our investment in optimizing our peer-to-peer and event fundraising programs. The Specialist will support our team’s efforts to drive revenue through the creation of best-in-class tools, resources, materials and communications – and this requires world-class content! The Specialist will work with internal and external cross-functional teams to develop content that will support recruitment, registration, engagement, and participant activation across the event fundraising portfolio. They may be drafting a Team Captain Toolkit for our brand new Pickleball program one day, re-working a DIY fundraising e-mail series the next, and QC’ing a MORE THAN PINK Walk website after that. The Specialist will be a ridiculously good writer with previous experience in non-profit events and peer-to-peer fundraising programs.

What You Will Bring to the Table

The primary objective of the Specialist, Event Fundraising Content is to support the development and successful implementation of digital peer-to-peer fundraising resources and tools to drive revenue to support Susan G. Komen in achieving our vision of a world without breast cancer. This person will:

  • Support the strategies of a range of peer-to-peer and event fundraising programs, linking the Race for the Cure, MORE THAN PINK Walk, DIY Fundraising, Workplace Fundraising, Ticketed Events and Pickleball series by providing creative ideation, content and asset creation, and execution support.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to review and provide feedback on series and program digital assets.
  • Supports overall e-comm strategy for the programs and series communication plans. Provides assistance with coordination of content creation and design, including stationery and images.
  • Assists with the design and development of coordinated and consistent online fundraising platforms via online tools including Salesforce, Blackbaud’s Luminate Online and TeamRaiser, Donor Drive, event apps and a texting platform.
  • Collaborates on paid social advertising to ensure alignment on strategy, brand voice, creative execution, and targeting.
  • Supports Technology department with TeamRaiser, Donor Drive and e-communication customization and management, including ensuring sites and communications continually follow strategic guidelines for the complete event lifecycle.
  • In close partnership with the program leadership teams, coordinate event digital fundraising resources.
  • Provide day-to-day support to local market teams, including answering questions, trouble-shooting, providing resources, tools and materials for online fundraising resources, e-communications, and fundraising recognition program.
  • All other duties as assigned.

We Already Know You Will Also Have

  • 3-5 years of experience in peer-to-peer and event fundraising programs with a strong digital and online presence.
  • Proven knowledge of online communication and fundraising strategies, motivators and techniques.
  • Understanding of online event administration and management.
  • Fluent at the intersection of fundraising and technology.
  • Understanding of Luminate Online, TeamRaiser, and Salesforce are a must. Understanding of Donor Drive is a bonus.
  • Top .01% written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and positive thinker, willing to take smart risks and lead initiatives with confidence and tasks to completion.
  • Strong organizational and data input skills, attention to detail, creativity, and ability to think outside the box.
  • Ability to juggle several projects with varying priorities at one time.
  • Ability to process information from a wide range of sources, resolving disparate feedback and integrating different points of view.

Travel Requirements: less than 25%, willingness and ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.

Education: Associate Degree: Marketing, Communications, Non-Profit, Business or other related fields

Preferred experience includes: 

  • Prefer a candidate with prior local/regional peer-to-peer fundraising and race or walk management experience
  • Experience managing online marketing, participant acquisition and fundraising strategy and implementation
  • In addition to the qualifications above, the successful candidate should have:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other organizational-wide adopted systems such as People Soft, Blackbaud, Salesforce, etc.
