Job description

Syneos Health’s Reputation & Risk Management practice is looking for an exceptional scientific writer to join our rapidly growing communications consultancy. If you’re looking for a dynamic role in an ever-changing environment where learning and challenging yourself is expected, this job may be for you.

Who we are:

The Syneos Health Reputation & Risk Management practice is a group of healthcare communications consultants, policy-shapers and crisis response specialists. We provide unique solutions to the evolving communications challenges in today’s healthcare industry, using evidence-based approaches to help our clients successfully navigate the most sensitive milestones for their companies. We live and breathe healthcare—tracking trends, analyzing emerging policies, and translating company messages to patients, providers, investors and policymakers. Our practice is the best of both worlds: a nimble culture with immense opportunities to grow and inform our service portfolio, while having regular access to Syneos Health’s global network and resources.

Who you are:

We’re looking for an experienced scientific writer interested in applying their deep understanding of the sciences across therapeutic areas to develop communications materials for our clients. To succeed in this role, you need a clear understanding of best practices for scientific writing and a proven track record developing high-quality scientific content. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must. Ideally, you are also interested in growing your expertise in translating scientific stories to all audiences and into multi-media.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do:

You will serve as a scientific writer on flagship client businesses. Specifically, this role will involve development of scientific communications materials for our healthcare clients across pipeline, corporate and internal communications.

Daily activities will include:

  • Writing and editing scientific communication materials, including but not limited to fact sheets, MOA/MOD animation scripts, website content, PPT decks, press releases and Q&As
  • Providing direction and feedback to creative team on illustrations/graphics/visuals
  • Working closely with account teams to develop and refine scientific content strategy and recommendations based on business objectives and client priorities
  • Communicating directly with clients via email and on calls to present content and discuss feedback, as needed
  • Working closely with Creative Studios to develop unique scientific presentations and stories that speak to media, patient, caregiver, investor and broad audiences

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline; advanced degree preferred
  • ~ 5 years of experience in scientific writing and content development (preferably past agency, consulting or healthcare) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong ability to develop and deliver client-ready scientific content that is accurate and clear
  • Aptitude for translating complex scientific concepts into content that is easy to understand and resonates across audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to process new information rapidly
  • Capacity to apply experience and scientific expertise across therapeutic areas
  • Able to work independently under tight deadlines with modest direction
  • Creative flair and/or experience with non-scientific content a plus
  • Comfort working in cross-functional teams large and small
  • Willingness to jump onto assignments with minimal onboarding
  • Strong oral communication skills and charismatic speaking ability; comfortable presenting and discussing ideas, drafts and recommendations with clients
  • Versatile, with flexibility to quickly change tasks on a moment's notice
  • Displays work ethic and values of firm in day-to-day capacities
