Job description

Carlyle’s Global Content Managing Editor will drive the vision for storytelling at Carlyle through content strategies to support global business priorities through editorial direction, execution, and production of original content.

In this role, you’ll bring a passion for global investment management to informing and educating our shareholders, investors, management teams, people, and communities. You’ll collaborate with writers, multimedia producers, and our Creative Studio – in addition to writing the content yourself - to produce content that resonates with our audiences and inspires them to take action to partner with us more closely. 

Content sits within Corporate Communications at Carlyle and drives content programs to enhance the firm’s reputation and support commercial outcomes for three global business segments. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Define and document a global content strategy that maps content to the journeys for each of our key audiences. Continually refine our content strategy as the business strategy evolves. 
  • Develop and manage a team of highly-skilled marketing professionals focused on the execution of editorial and multimedia content, providing end-to-end guidance in the production process. 
  • Identify, articulate, and develop effective narratives around Carlyle thought leadership to raise awareness, drive engagement, and support our three global businesses.
  • Create and manage a newsroom approach to content and business segment coverage to build a digital strategy focused on accessible thought leadership, portfolio company case studies, and diversity/culture stories, adapted for digitally-savvy, mobile, and social audiences
  • Facilitate repeatable ideation for translating the documented content strategy into a consistent pipeline of content.
  • Roadmap and socialize the pipeline of content to ensure the team can capitalize on and re-purpose content across the firm and for different channels, including social media and events.
  • Demonstrate a proactive marketing approach by anticipating content needs and staying up-to-date on relevant industry trends to reinforce Carlyle's insights and strategic brand positioning.
  • Partner with key business segment stakeholders across the firm to continually optimize our content marketing approach and synthesize subject matter expertise for content. 
  • Partner with our Head of Marketing Operations to establish and refine workflows that assure timely, coordinated, and effective collaboration on all content production.
  • Develop content through a combination of collaborating with agencies on written and multimedia pieces, managing team members to cover specific topics, and self-authoring content pieces.
  • Deliver global content with guidance on local customization while ensuring a cohesive brand narrative and tone.
  • Provide analysis on content KPIs to help drive commercial outcomes. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Between 13 and 16 years of relevant experience in financial services journalism and financial services marketing.
  • Developed and socialized with senior management a documented content marketing strategy for a financial services firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of the global investment industry, products, and services.
  • Ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Goal-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and lead tactically with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • The experience showcases a passion for writing and editing.
  • An understanding of content strategy, publishing processes, and performance measurement.
  • Proven ability to set an editorial strategy to take content to the next level. 
  • A passion for writing and learning about marketing, technology, content, software, work processes, and creativity. 
  • A team player, ready to jump in and proactively help the team exceed our goals and reach success.
