Job description

We’re looking for a talented communication professional with a passion for education programs and significant experience in web content creation and maintenance. As a communication and web content manager at BYU-Pathway Worldwide, you will manage marketing efforts and websites for a worldwide organization serving 60,000+ students from 188 countries, as well as EnglishConnect, a program provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help individuals increase self-reliance through learning English. 

This role involves being a specialist in a variety of communication mediums and leading a team of skilled interns and part-time employees who fulfill various functions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Website creation, maintenance, development, and translation 

  • Using a content management system (Brightspot), oversee the content creation and regular maintenance of BYU-Pathway Worldwide and EnglishConnect websites, including writing content, providing design input, and leading translation efforts (using LingoTek or similar software). 
  • Guide efforts to improve the quality of the user web experience. 
  • Provide data about the use and effectiveness of websites and adjust content as needed.   

Content creation and distribution to both external and internal audiences 

  • Create and manage a messaging strategy and plan for EnglishConnect learners as well as initiatives for other BYU-Pathway departments.  
  • Tailor messaging to international audiences, even to specific areas/countries.  

Marketing and social media 

  • Work with the digital marketing and enrollment team to develop, implement, and manage the social media strategy for EnglishConnect. 
  • Oversee the creation and publishing of engaging social content and advertisements.  

Video scripting and production 

  • Write scripts and oversee production for videos.  
  • Conduct interviews for video assets.  

Supervise, mentor, and train employees 

  • Hire, manage, and mentor a production team consisting of part-time employees and interns. 
  • Work closely with a team of communication professionals with a variety of skill sets, including writing, editing, messaging, project management, video production, and design.  

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must submit a resume, cover letter, and portfolio of 3-5 relevant work products to be considered.   

  • Education & Work Experience: This position requires five or more years of experience working in a communications role with significant experience in web content creation, and a broad understanding of multiple disciplines, including social media for a major organization, marketing, video, etc. A bachelor’s degree in communication or other related fields is required. 
  • Skill Set: The incumbent must possess refined and practiced communication skills, have a strong understanding of how to write for your audience and think like a user, and be educated in effective marketing and social media strategies and practices. Experience with Brightspot or another web content management system is a plus.   

Other Required Skills:  

  • Ability to deeply analyze communication needs and create effective messaging and solutions 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines 
  • Understanding of cultural differences throughout the world and the ability to tailor content accordingly  

Reporting 

  • Reports to: Director of Communication. Secondary (dotted) reporting lines to the Director of EnglishConnect.
