Job description

Bridging science communications and the digital experience, the Web Content Manager, Research is responsible for writing, managing and publishing research-oriented content to the public website of The Jackson Laboratory. They develop and monitor research content, making sure it remains accurate, up to date, and consistent with JAX's brand and messaging and aligns with user journeys. Reporting to the Associate Director, Research Communications, the Web Content Manager, Research will work closely with colleagues in Strategic Communications and the research enterprise, including daily interactions with faculty and scientific program, leads across JAX.

  • Work proactively with faculty and research stakeholders to create, revise and update research-oriented content for the public website.
  • Serve as liaison for handling research content feedback and updates for the public website.
  • Support persona and journey mapping development for research-oriented users of the public website
  • Work with the Creative Operations team to develop data-driven strategies and processes to review research content quality at scale.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the development of scientific content, such as manuscripts, editorial content, and/or content for websites/social media.
  • Extensive knowledge of genetics, genomics and the research enterprise, and the ability to clearly communicate complex source scientific materials to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to relationship-build, set/adhere to deadlines, and work as part of a larger team while maintaining an enthusiastic, positive attitude.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience working with web content management systems. Sitecore experience is a plus.
  • Familiar with fundamentals of HTML and CSS and able to resolve basic layout and styling issues in code. Experience applying WCAG AA web accessibility standards is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive work style. Must work effectively both independently and as a virtual team member.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles.
  • An active presence on social media, with awareness of current trends a plus.

Seeking someone for this role who can work hybrid remote to either Farmington, CT or Bar Harbor, ME or fully remote with quarterly travel to Farmington, CT and Bar Harbor, ME.
